  • I've started using these guys now.

Works exactly as they said, phone one number to top up your account by £ 1.50 (my bill added about £ 1.55 in reality) and then use a freephone number to access international calls. No account required, works out cheper than Alpha for me and you don't risk more than £ 1.50 a time.

The only thing I don't like is the 5p connection charge each time but I can live with that.
  • Went from pillar to post today .

First called Consumer Direct , then they asked me to contact the Insolvency Service. They checked on Company's House Register and found that Onyx Innovations (ie Alpha Telecom ) are still trading. They then told me to contact the High Courts of Justice (to see if papers had been filed re liquidation ) who advised me to go to a Receiver .

After all this I am still none the wiser about who the administrators are.

I am going back to my credit card company and ask them to do the leg work for a change to get my £388 back.
  • There's nothing on Companies House showing that Onyx Innovation Uk Ltd (trading as Alpha Telecom) have gone into liquidation or administration which suggests that there may still be an opportunity for customers to get their money back.

You could try writing to the director Mr Zafar Wasim Mirza at: 18 Brook Way, Chigwell, IG7 6AW or MERIDIAN GATE 4 CAIRNGORM HOUSE, 203 MARSH WALL, LONDON, E14 9YT.

    Not looking good though...

Has anyone heard who the Administrators are yet? Thankfully I don't have a lot in there but it's still money I would like to get back!

  • Has anyone got any further with this one? Or has anyone been able to log on to the Alpha Telecom website to view their account?

Please let me know, as I am unable to log on and was wondering if they have put a general block on?!?

I am still able to log on as of today at 20.50 hours - maybe because Google Chrome has saved the log on cookies. And am able to see my outstanding credit of £388
I have written to my credit card company , who initially said that since I topped up 100 days ago , they could not do anything.
Spoke to Which Legal who said that their excuse was BS and Section 75 should still apply and so I am writing again.
Interestingly the Companies House website still mentions Onyx Innovations UK Limited as trading and not dissolved.
  • Hi There,
I am owed £58 in credit from Alpha which i paid for using HSBC my MasterCard credit card - enough to care about but not enough to make a no-questions-asked Section 75 claim a slam dunk.
The MSE Section 75 guide (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases) is not clear about the £100 minimum in cases where the vendor has gone into administration. Can somebody clarify please?
