Alpha Telecom

We feel really silly. We realised that the service had stopped working about 10 days ago. At the end of last week, we managed to get through to customer services again and asked for our money back. We were assured that the technical problems were being worked on. Now we cannot even get an answer from customer services so we realised that the service must have gone out of business.

Does anyone know anything about it?

Sorry, never heard of them. And google's not throwing much light on the subject. There are some poor to mediocre reviews stretching back some years but nothing (that I can find) on current problems.

  • I have the same problem and I'm assuming they've gone bankrupt too. You could try emailing them at 'info@alphatelecom.com'. I've tried, but unfortunately I expect to be losing my £30.
  • Hi, we have 150pounds with Alpha - is there not a complaints procedure to go through to get the money back?
  • Me too - £50 topped up late December and only one call made with it. Nothing on their website apart from message re tech difficulties - none of the numbers work. The customer service number yest just puts you on hold and they haven't updated any customers via the companys twitter account. Am sooo annoyed I fell for their marketing campaign once again. Never again!!!

Hi, I did had the same experience toped up £20.00 around Christmas I have not been able to access them as there are technical issues for the last few weeks now. What can we do I am sure there would be many people in the same position, they can’t just take our money?! Can it be escalated higher?

  • I've encountered access problems with them before - but nothing like this. Looks like they've gone bust this time. Can anyone reccomend another telecoms company? Being with Virgin landline and having to pay for an 0844 number the cost of making a call will now go up fivefold. Of course, Alpha have taken £37 of my money with them........
  • They still have a website with this. Hope they mean it.

"We are experiencing some technical issues, and are working on having them resolved."
"The lines should be operative by the end of today. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience "
  • I have the same problem, been a member of their company for several years without any glitches but this time around they seem to have gone off the radar, all numbers and lines have been disengaged. Alpha was taken over by Onyx in 2010

Their number is engaged on a permanent basis as well - I guess the next stage is Ofcom to try to get our money back and change provider
  • The site no longer resolves for me. I've got £347 on account with them because at some point they fooled me into topping up. I guess it's time to take them to court somehow? Don't really know how but that's a decent amount of money unfortunately.
