So do we think the old Bishop of London is talking rubbish here?
http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/07/bishop_of_londo.html
It is an interesting concept but it seems strange as has God really told him this? Plus, sin seems not really a C of E concept, but it is nice marketing phrase even if you do nick it off Catholics
But then again all Christians Catholic, Non- comformists, or Anglican need to work as one.

I belive its a band wagon that he has jumped upon to gain credibility.
I know my bible pretty well and I cant find flying being a sin in there any where. (please correct me if I am wrong).
Of course directing our attention away from souls going to heaven and making us look towards other supposedly more pressing situation's such as climate and greeness is a good ploy.
Not that I am saying that we should be reckless. I agree with many concepts of enviromental wellbeing. But can somebody please point me in the direction of the FACTS not statistics about how much carbon is emitted per person to travel from London to The bahamas on a plne and how much carbon per person is emitted for getting there with other means.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -
Hmmm. First up, sin is not a Catholic invention.
Second, we as Christians have a duty to look after the earth, so if you extrapolate that out then perhaps we could make flying a sin.
I'm not saying it IS, just I can see the sense of the argument.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

In a sense I do not see what is new as to respect the environment and living things is a central part of Christian thinking from as long as 30 years ago.:beer:0

Sin is more central in Catholicism that is all I mean. It is not a hugely C of E/ non-comformist term is it?:beer:0 -

Or, indeed, from as long as since God created the earth.Sin is more central in Catholicism that is all I mean. It is not a hugely C of E/ non-comformist term is it?

I would have thought that respect for the Earth is a priori written into all religions under the sun because they all command their followers to respect and nurture their fellow humans. Therefore it logically follows that ecological respect is implicit, because a ruined environment damages not just plants and animals but, ultimately, ourselves.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
