Sage Accounts HELP Please!

Our work computer failed late this afternoon and has been taken in for the boffins to see if they can restore/repair it. I'm responsible for all Sage stuff and am feeling pretty desperate to get us back up & running ASAP.

I thought I'd install the Sage software we use onto my home PC so we can carry on our business from there. Despite having all the relevant discs, back up copies, passwords, serial number, and activation key it wont let me in:eek:. Of course it is past 5 pm so Sage aren't available.

I'm presuming that there is something now built into their programs so they can't be used by unauthorised persons. I can't be the only person who has had this problem. I need to get this fixed very quickly. Can anyone offer any help & advice PLEASE......

Is it a single user licence? If so then it will have already been activated (and linked to) the faulty PC.

It is on 3 machines at work - a small network using one as a server (that's the one that's failed). It was the multi company version and have tried at home start afresh (and I can see that my PC has the restored data but it still wont let me in) so perhaps we went for the single user version at the last upgrade as it cost a small fortune.

This must happen when you get a new PC so am presuming I will need to wait to speak to Sage tomorrow morning........unless you or someone can help me otherwise??

You'll need to ring Sage tomorrow to get them to sort this out, I reckon...

Ahh. Is it still working on the other machines at work?

It's been a while since I supported Sage in any way, shape, or form (2008 to be precise) but if I remember rightly the network version had to authenticate with the server in order to run otherwise it just sat there with a blank screen and basic menus. My memory is really hazy on it truth be told.

Think if i remember correctly the Activation key is tied to a specific the Machine (it's been a good 4 or 5 years since I've had to deal with sage!) That's why the activation key is not working.

Best you can do is relax pour a glass of wine and wait for SAGE to open in the morning ^_~

Is Sage one of those programs that needs a dongle on the PC in addition to all the other stuff?

Don't think Sage needs a dongle. (it didn't a few years ago!)

either the license issue as mentioned, or possibly (from experience with the 2011 version) you haven't got the .NET framework installed on your home machine, which the 2011 version needs which previous versions didn't.....
