Don't think Sage needs a dongle. (it didn't a few years ago!)
I hate sage!! It's a bl000dy terrible program to support (and install!!). ^_^

You could be right. I did a bit to Googling while I'm on a conference call this morning and got this from the Sage website.

    5. Sage Commercial and Dongles Pricing Changes in pricing for Dongles
Due to the increasing cost of dongles, from January 2008, a charge of €80 will be placed on the purchase and replacement of each single user dongle.
Network dongles will no longer be distributed, instead standalone dongles will be sold on a “per user” basis.

It also mentions Network dongles, the OP said it was their Network server that is faulty. It may be that they have a network dongle attached to the server or stand alone dongles on each user PC.

We recently updgraded our Sage to the 2012 version from a 5 year old version. We have a 2 user Network Line 50 version.

However, we have never needed a dongle, even from when we first got Sage 10 years ago.

No we haven't currently got a dongle but did have one at one time. (I've been using Sage for a very, very long time).

I contacted them at 9am this morning and they told me:-

    1) by having Sage on my home pc I'm breaking the licence agreement - even though we do have the multi company multi user version - so I've removed it
    2) to get any advice at all it will cost £850 to join their Sage Cover support (that's the cheapest - they also have a dearer one at £1225.00). The only concession was, we can pay over 12 months.

So I'm now having to wait for new pc's at work, attempt the installation again there and if I run into problems pay the enormous Sage Cover support fee for the next 12 months. In the meantime we are having to create copious paper records to keep the works going.

The only saving grace is I wont be there to use it, so whoever is, they will have the benefit.

Their is a way around paying the extortionate "Sage Cover Support" fee's (well it was the last time i worked with sage!)

Look for a local Sage Reseller (they already have Sage Cover) see if they will give you some advice or take a look for you and install it once the machine is back (They should be able to do it for a fraction of the cost of Sage Cover, Since they can use their Sage Cover to help with your problem.)
