Correct. As she is only just 18 she didn't know or understand the implications, as she had no reason to.
I do believe that if she had been planning to do something like this herself she would have discussed it with me first, but as she believed she had only to make a month's payment and then everything would be transferred then she didn't see the problem. I believe friends parents had already refused to take on (another) contract on her behalf. With friends like that..etc.
Anyway my dd now seems to be the (not entirely unhappy) owner of an Iphone4, her younger sister is going to take over her phone contract as her own runs out in a couple of months, and hopefully everyone here has learnt a valuable (expensive) lesson.

sadly, this is a becoming a very familiar tale - it sounds as though your daughter has had a very sharp wake up call, and I'm sure that with your support, she won't be so naive next time.
