Tesco Mob unlock code doesn't work

Tesco have taken lots of credit from me and provided me with an unlock code so I could use my mobile with foreign SIMs. However the code doesn't work. They say that I must take my mobile into a Tesco outlet and they will 'send it away' for a couple of weeks to sort it out. They refuse to sort it out on the phone or by sending me another code.
Anything I can do? I don't want to be without my mobile for 2 weeks!

I would change operator but use their 40p a minute intl calls option when abroad as it's cheaper than their competitors, plus their UK tariffs are good.

cheers.

let them send it away, but pestering them for a temporary handset may work

Just say give me my money back and ill go down a car phone warehouse to get it unlocked. Get them to give you all 10 sets of codes they get given by there software untill one works.
    Kind Regards

Thanks guys. They want the SIM card too so I'd have to use a temp no for 2 weeks which is not good. They are just so stubborn on their 'support' ph line. If I could find another operator with as cheap PAYG and EU calls/texts I'd be off.
I object to having to pay to unlock it when they offer it free when you've spent £30 credit :-(

Oh and they never answered my email asking for another code to try.

Rang them. They insist that I must post them my phone - no p&p envelope even supplied. They will refund the postage (insurance? they're not sure!) They will then take up to 2 weeks to manually unlock it, during which they don't supply any replacement phones.
Plus they cannot guarantee that I won't lose everything saved on the phone - ringtones, numbers, photos, screensavers etc nor will they credit me for any of those lost that I bought using their credit.

I said I may go to the corner shop unlock shops so they told me that if I do that and anything happened to my phone during the first 12 months and they hadn't unlocked it, that the guarantee is invalidated (even if the fault has nothing to do with the unlocking process).
They apologised, but I sense zero recognition that it's their fault for supplying a code that doesn't work as they've 'offered to unlock it manually'.

Show me a network that offers me the same rates on PAYG and has 40p calls to and from the UK from the EU and my next call will be to ask for my port code....still got to get the thing unlocked for another network though.
How do I do that without losing my screensaver, ringtones and of course nos?
Any recomms in the central or SE London area for reliable unlock shops where I won't lose my saved data, either post or pm me please.
    many thanks guys.

can you backup all the data onto your pc otherwise have a look at kingmobilephone. they can unlock (and debrand-removes all the tesco crap off the phone eg. startup/shutdown screen, menu icons etc) at a cost of £8 or for debrand+unlock £20. with debranding, you will lose everything

what is the error you get when you try to enter the code?

it rare that the networks supply the wrong code.

It's a bit naff to say Tesco but doesn't bother me that much so debranding isn't NB,just unlocking so I can use with EU SIMS when travelling.

The error message is Wrong Code. Btw Tesco say they only ever get one code per phone.
If I get it cable unlocked, what will I lose from the phone?
    thanks
