well this is how it ended up, had a look at the slate tiles at topps, and abandoned that idea as the variation in their thicknesses was huge and well beyond my skills. ended up getting some ceramics from a local trade shop, he recommended granfix flexible adhesive and granfix grout. seems ok so far.............0
