    Glad I found this thread. Since moving 6 years ago I have been puzzling over how to hang a curtain at the porch door. Problem now solved!

    The first steps in getting a warmer hall and so house, in a traditional building is to fit something like this:

    Then outside an artificial rubber draught strip in an aluminium extrusion (other colours are available):

    Only then think about the additional warmth from heavy tight fitting curtains on doors and windows and secondary glazing for ALL the windows:
