Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 23rd January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Hubby is on early's so we are up & about.
Hugs to LW, Mrs Mix, Molly & Miffy.
I didn't get much done yesterday, I looked after DGD2 for an hour whilst DD & SIL tidied their garage but I didn't feel well, so came home & slept on the sofa for 4 hours. I did manage to get hubbys workwear ready & that was the only thing I needed to do.
It's time I made the packups & mors tea.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester, morning all x

I've got the morning school run today, got to put on the WM and BM today. Tonight we are visiting my mum (she lives 40 miles away) as my sister is over from Germany with her three boys until tomorrow.

So dinner tonight is whatever we are given :)

Hope everyone has a good day x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Morning all, hope Eliza is still being good for you JG. Just woken up, but feel shattered, so coffee needs to do its work today. Need to sort out the washing / ironing today and then will finalise the rest of the house. Tomorrow I need to be brave and attack upstairs!

Dinner tonight is left over lamb and potatoes and veg from yesterday! Will mix it together to make some sort of hash with the lamb on the side!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning early risers and all who follow,

Back to work today, but finishing earlier than normal on a money as I have no meeting.

Visit to town yesterday with DD2 was fun but in the end she took 3 friends with her and I took DD1 and 2 of my friends as well! We gave the young ones 2 hours on their own and they reported back by mobile every time that they bought anything!

Tonight is netball for DD2 and lots of revision for DS as he has a biology exam tomorrow. He has finally realised that having a mum who is a science teacher is actually a good thing sometimes!

Hugs to all in need whether poorly or sad and a big cuddle for Eliza.

Tea tonight is LO chicken from last night.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Still feeling awful, slept most of yesterday away and can feel the black dog at my shoulder, so today I am determined to give myself a kick in the posterior and do some washing and general cleaning.

    Morning all

Very productive day yesterday - I gutted the bedroom and went through all my clothes and regained several tops that had become too small :j DH tried all his clothes on and decluttered all that were no good so i have two black bags o them to get rid of.

Half day at work as DS2 has his psyche appointment this afternoon - although he is fine and back at work I definitely think its worth seeing them.

Dinner will be sausage and mash I think unless something else takes my fancy as the day goes on.

    Hugs to all x

    Morning everyone ((hugs))
Not looking forward to work this morning, will have to tackle the carnage that happens when your "manager" is "ill" for a week and her superior is on her side urg.
OH left a little while ago with his lunch and a bag of healthy cakes and un-healthy cookies. I had a speed bake off last night, making banana bread, carrot (and red cabbage, orange and apricot) cake, chocolate cookies, bread and some pasta with veg sauce for lunches in about an hour(well except the bread, it needed to rise). Should keep us going for a while. Right, eat this egg then go!

Curry for tea which the menfolk will make, nice to come home to a cooked meal but I'd rather they both had jobs to go to.

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Clear and bright here this morning, rain nearly all dried up. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Finished up having a late lunch yesterday, roast pork was delicious, so had with roast potatoes, brussels, carrots, broccolli, yorkshires and gravy. DS1 had rugby training in the morning and then we visited friends after as they live near the rugby club.

Had a lazy afternoon, had pre-set the oven to come on so pork was cooking when we got back, prepped the veg and made the pack-ups etc for today, cooked the veg, served dinner then told the menfolk the kitchen was closed and I was having the rest of the day off! Boys stacked the DW - I just went in cleaned the worktops and turned DW on when I was ready. Sat with my book - really needed to get it finished - it was a book that I had taken on summer hols last year and just not really got into - so decided that I would endeavour to get it finished - and I did! I don't read anywhere near as much as I would like, but will be trying to read more.

I spent some time Saturday afternoon getting hotel booked for DH's meeting in London in May - managed to get a reasonably priced room, have also bought a friends and family railcard - makes a big difference on the rail fares - so just need to actually book the train tickets nearer the time! Will also be hoping to use my MrT c/card vouchers to purchase tickets for sightseeing bus - boys have been to London before but only to go to other events in London, so I want to take them to do all the normal sightseeing stuff.

Back to work today - came hard getting up knowing I have to go into work, I'm sure I'll be fine once I get there, it's just the thought! I also have some more time off booked for Feb half term as had loads of holiday time left and needed to get it used up before the end of the holiday year!

Dinner tonight wil be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in a creme fraiche sauce. WM now on with DS1's dirty rugby kit in, other washing now drying on the airer.

Need to go get myself into gear.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Hester - really hope you feeling better today x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
