Just to clarify what everyone else has put in (and mostly right)

If it's small screen, by all means take it back to the store and they'll arrange for the repair, if it's large screen save some hassle and just phone up Knowhow on 08445 61 12 34 and provide your address (All TVs are stored in a database as customer details are taken (legal requirement) ) and they'll either arrange a repair (if it's a TV KnowHow Repair a Knowhow dude will be out pick it up and returned usually within 7 to 10 days) or if it's one they don't repair they'll take all details required and forward on to the manufacturer or give you the number if you want to deal with them directly. (You can Of Course phone KnowHow for Small screen too)

You don't need to worry about proving it as all products sold by PcWorld and Currys And Dixons have at least a 12 month warranty, and unless they pick it up and refuse to repair it because you've been sitting flower pots on top of the TV & watering them (True Story) or something along those lines you'll be fine & don't have to worry about the SoGA.

Dixons Retail define a reasonable timeframe to be 28 days (21 for a refund, 28 for a exchange) for inspection of goods (and for electronics something usually happens within the first month, and I hope everyone can agree thats pretty reasonable). A repair is usually done within 10 days, but depending on parts and other problems can take longer, If it takes over 28/21/7 (depending on cover level) days to repair from the moment you inform us you can go into a PcWorld Or Currys store and chose a replacement (or if a WEH member over 1 year, vouchers to at least the same specification are issued to be redeemed in store)
