If you have young kids, tell them to concentrate really hard on the car and try to get the windows to go down with the power of thought. Then use your key to drop the windows. Hours of fun ....

ps Actually quite a useful function if you forget to close the windows after getting out the car and you can use the lock button to raise the windows.

The manuals not of great use to be honest. Doesn't explain how to disable the features and I can't seem to open it up to get the battery out! Had to put the windows up again!! The keys have now been stored in the kitchen draw (the furthest room away from the car) lol.

Still worried though i'm going to get back from a long day at work to find my car wide open to the elements (including criminals).
  • Do not use water to melt ice. Especially not warm water, as it freezes faster than cold water.

And if I hold the unlock button on my key fob it opens all four of the windows. If I hold the lock button it closes them all. It's a feature.

I suggest a Mundano owners forum, bound to be others with the same issue ;)

Anybody ever comes across any of these two issues:

    Issue 1:
I start the engine one day last week and left it running. It was iced over so nipped back in the house for some luke warm water to speed the process along. Got back to the car, with my partner this time as she was getting in the car before we headed out - to our horror the doors has automatically locked themselves
Fortunately one door was unlocked, the rear passenger side door. We kinda panicked a little bit as we tried the doors with no luck whilst the keys was in the ignition and engine running.

What on earth happened? This can't be normal can it?

    Issue 2:
On several occasions now we have gone to the car and found all 4 windows down. All 4 electric windows, all controllable at each window and at the drivers seat. I thought at first I had been incredibly stupid for not checking -- but when it happened today my partner agreed we had not left the windows open!
So I sat in the car, used the key to double lock the door. Then used the key to unlock the doors and at the same time the doors unlocked, all 4 windows automatically rolled down

So i'm concluding the windows hadn't been down all the time the car was sat ourside - but came down when I unlocked the doors. It doesn't do it every time though, so I could be wrong.

As before, any ideas what's going on here?

    1) Yes they do that. It is a "anti-hijack" option you can enable/disable with various combinations of key presses (Google it)

    2) Yes, had that happen. Wondered what the hell had gone on. It is due to an auto open/close feature on the car activated by the keyfob. If you hold down the unlock button for four seconds, all the windows go down. Conversely hold the lock button for four seconds and it'll close all the windows. Damned handy when coming back to the car on a hot day or if you can't remember if you shut all the windows.

Just a little note, I think this only applies to the models with all 4 electric windows. If someone knows better please correct me.
  • It will be the drivers door lock that is playing up and giving off wrong signals.

Motion locking enabled? You can enable and disable that feature on MK3 mondeo's.

Locking issues on a MK3 are usually down to the drivers door lock which controls the rest of the system.

Being 2 metres from the door didnt stop my brother in laws car being stolen sometime back, Started the car and went into the hall
to pickup his keys and wallet, Hears a screech and a bang. Turns around and a copper is standing there with whats left of his gates
    in his hand.
They had chased him through some gardens, His lucky day when he comes across a running car with nobody in it. reversed over
his gates and almost over the policeman chasing him.

One in a million but it can and does happen, Policeman wanted to charge my BIL for leaving a motor vehicle running and unattended.

But he later apologized and said he was angry at the guy getting away. On a road may have been different but on a driveway with
closed gates i guess it would have been a loser for them.

Que? Put a cup of warm water, and a cup of cold water in your freezer. See which one freezes first, and then come back on here. My money's on the cold.
