Internal Blu Ray writer

Thanks for the help everyone, i had not seen the Lite on Bluray player, it will still leave me with a blank center to the drive, but maybe painting is an option.
Bluray's media is expensive for now, but we are expecting our first baby sono and have some distant relatives, so having invested in an hd camcorder it seesm sensible to be able to store those special moments on bluray disk and to send some copies to our distant relatives who are a bit old to travel.
If only I could find a black media case that was as nice as the silver one I have seen I would be happier! ha ha
Thanks again.0 -
It seems expensive per disc but you do get 24GB @ £1 per disc compared with 4.7GB for around10p each, still blue-ray does costs more per GB. Also if data is important the more the disc holds if anything goes wrong you lost a lot more. So always have backups maybe on different media too, example photos, treasured video of kids, mp3's
I been using BDR for almost 2 years now I have had coasters but that was down to a faulty batch which you can get with dvd-r/+r, but I do get very few now but I d keep recording speeds low0 -
I blame Currys & Bingo (& not me for not checking
), but that Liteon is only a reader, not a writer.

Isn't it annoying when you don't want convention? I have a beige PC case and getting a Blu Ray writer meant purchasing a beige DVD re-writer and changing the faceplates with black Blu Ray writer that I purchased. You do need a drive with the same layout so that the faceplates fit correctly. Mine was a Pioneer and older models do have different faceplate colours. I did try the Pioneer sales office but they didn't have any faceplates that they would sell me, it cost me about £20 for the beige faceplate which made the drive even more expensive than it was.
If you decide to do this search for drive models with silver faceplates from the same manufacturer.0 -
Am I the only person who couldn't care less what colour (within reason!) computer hardware is? A working optical drive is a working optical drive in my (money saving) opinion.--Savings: 26/09/14 the day I reached 100k, 24/07/20 200k, 23/08/24 300k
Completed on first house 18/07/25 £300k and mortgage-free

It was only a few years ago that beige PC's were common & black cases were rare.0

I have to be honest i personally would not mind the black optical drive in a silver case, however my heavily pregant wife who is slightly emotional and unpredictable at the moment apparently did care!!! ha ha
ASnything for a quiet life, I have now gone for a silver case with a flip down draw front built in to hide the drive behind. It has cost me a bit more in £'s, but it has saved me from the hassle, earache and tears of a pregant lady!
Thanks for your help everyone. Hopefully I will get time to build the system soon...apparently the nursery comes first....women!!0
