I'm going on hols to vietnam soon and I'm worried about incuring massive charges for data. I have no intention of using my phone for internet except for when connected to WIFI. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I usually keep the data switched off unless I'm using it. If i keep the data off is there any change that my phone will do downloads without me knowing?

    No, but it is worth switching data roaming off too as an extra precaution.

    Use a PAYG sim in case your phone is nicked. Then leave a message on your home number telling callers what the sim number is.
