Thomas Cook Child PRICES

How can Thomas Cook (TC) justify a Child of over 7 being an Adult?

The prices to go all inclusive to Lara Beach Turkey are looking like £6-£9k for us this year because TC class my twins as Adults, they're 11, this is surely against some EU regulation as I now if your book in Holland through Prettig Reizen they class a child of 18 to be a child...how can we get this lobbied to force the tour operations to be more realistic on what is a child. Surely its simple, the age of consent, 16. Love to hear comments and way of booking a 5* Star luxury holiday without having your underpants pulled down.

unless things have changed it used to be aged 12 in a hotel or aged 16 self catering. we took my grandchild age 9 away last summer ai, he travelled child prices with thomsons.

Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • I think you will find it is the hotel that stipulates the child age when they are sorting out the contract with a Tour Operator. That is why you have child ages on any hotel varying from anything from 7 to 16. There is no norm, although a lot seem to be 12.
16 is a high child age limit for a child and what hotel in their right mind would set a child age of 16 when they are going to get less money, as the guest will pay child age but drink and eat as much as an adult? There are some that i know of that go up to 15 but haven't seen one for aged 16.
Besides a lot of rooms that take 2 adults and 2 kids have smaller beds for the kids or they would be sharing a double. What 16 year olds would share (especially if they were brother and sister) and would they really fit in a smaller child bed?

its years ago since my children were that age and we used to take them abroad so my earlier post might be wrong when i said 16, maybe it used to state under 16.
but when they were young and we priced holidays by the child prices for self catering, the apartments used to be classed as under occupied because x amount of adults were not on the booking, it used to work out cheaper for us to book some of the children as adults and get free child places.(we still had the under occupancy to pay for the child prices)

we are going to lanzarote to an all inclusive resort in march with thomsons, have just priced how much extra to take a child.
    2 adults only £1250. £625 per person.
    2 adults with 1 child under 2=£1292.
    2 adults with child 2-12=£1638.
2 adults with child 13+ same as adult price sharing a room=£2001.

I've just booked with Thomas Cook for April and DS aged 11 is counted as a child (2-12). DS aged 17 is a child for the plane and an adult for the hotel.
