I have gone and replaced all my halogens with LED's
A few snippets of info
- Choose the colour you want - 2300K(warm white), 4000-5000K (Day white), Cool white[bluish tint] (6000-6500K)
- To Switch MR 16 to LED, please dont connect the MR16 LED, directly - unless the Transformer can handle low power consumption.
- Easier option is to switch MR16 to GU10's
- You get LED's with same wattage with different lumens; Always go by lumens.
- If you buy in bulk(ie find out how many you need for the house); it turns out cheaper (hunt various bargain sites and online retailers!!)“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu
System 1 - 14 x 250W SunModule SW + Enphase ME215 microinverters (July 2015)
System 2 - 9.2 KWp + Enphase IQ7+ and IQ8AC (Feb 22 & Sep 24) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump0 -

2300k is going to be extremely warm. In fact really yellow. Warm White is more 2500k to 2700k
In my experience anywhere that can offer you significant discounts on anything under several hundred products is probably over charging on the product in the first place and you are not getting the good deal you think you are.
I completely agree with you that instead of going to the bother of buying and fitting specialist LED transformers to every singe fitting as you probably need to do with MR16 LED's, switching the fittings to GU10 is a far better choice.0 -

Nevertheless, interested in how the market has developed since this thread was started, and members experiences.

When looking at Lumens, colour temp is a major factor. No good having 500 lumens if the colour temp is 6000k and they blind you every time you turn them on :cool:0 -

I already have an LED mirror, but I find the light has a 'blue-ish' tint to it. Are there any GU10 LED bulbs that have will shine a similar colour light to the halogen bulbs rather than the white blue-ish tint. I have solar panelled flood lights that are LED ouside and they too have the white blue tint to them.
Alternatively, any other suggestions?

Excellent thanks. The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
Hold on there - how many lumens does the HomeBargains light put out - they don't mention it. I'll guess they're not a true 40W equivalent but if you can find any specs on the packaging it would be very useful.0
