Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 22nd January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
The washing is all done, but it could take all week to dry it like last week so I need to make sure I get hubby's work wear ready for tomorrow morning, we got him boots & a hi-vis jacket yesterday so he has everything now.
I cooked a huge piece of pork yesterday, today I will slice it up & freeze it, it will do for lots of meals & sandwiches.
Today I need to clear the kitchen up, the surfaces are cluttered with things that should be in cupboards so I will put them away today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester and everyone else.

Been reading, but not up to posting lately. Its cold and very windy here today again, I don't remember a winter like it for wind, for a long time.

Beth I am so glad your results were clear. :)

Up and at 'em early this morning, I need to clean the floors downstairs, and have a lot of stuff to get rid of in the kitchen that has accumulated in a hot spot. The plan after that was to take the dog a walk in the country, I suppoe its like a moor to you lot down south, but its far too miserable for tgat, she wont set foot over the door if there's the least wee bit of rain, lol! After that or instead of it, we are off to Costco. OH needs some storage bins for his work's van, and I would like a new kitchen recycling bin.

Hugs to you all, especially LW Molly and Miffy.

  • Good morning Hester and to those who follow.
Yesterday didn't go according to plan as DS's GF was admitted to hospital. It was a long day. They think it may be an infection in the stomach but have to wait for all of the tests to come back. She is on a drip. DS was going out of his mind.
DH is at work and the girls are still in bed so enjoying a cuppa before i get started.
Dinner is roast beef and veg. DS is coming for dinner and thats his favourite.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone,

Foreversaving, hope DS's GF is OK.

Hugs to Molly, Miffy , Lou and LW.

Nice to see you posting JackieG

Daisie, hope your head feels better soon, I am a teacher and I know exactly what you mean about the guilt.

Had a lovely relaxing day yesterday and a long lie in this morning and I now feel ready to face the world.
I am helping at Junior Church this morning and taking DD2 and her friend to town this afternoon. They are in year 7 and a little too young to be allowed to town on their own (Nottingham is very big and busy) but I take them in and give them up to an hour on their own and get them to meet me before sending them off on their own for a while again.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning Everyone,

We are currently getting ready for Church. I am ready and just waiting to wake Eliza to dress, change and feed her before going. I missed Church last week and it feels so odd because I never miss a service, even when I was at my sickest! I can't wait to see what Eliza makes of it all... The music used to make her dance in my tummy, so I want to see how she reacts now :)

Yesterday went well, and we've batch cooked food for the rest of the week, so no stress in the evenings :) DS did all his homework. And the boys took Eliza Charity Shop Bargain hunting yesterday so I could get showered... it was her first time in her carrier and she was soooooo cute :)

So today is less OS, just need to put on some washing. We have visitors this afternoon. Dinner today is Beef Stew and Dumplings (I am going to try and make these with granary flour... hope they work!)

Well must be off... only 4 minutes left until I have to get Eliza ready.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday x

flutterby sorry this one turned out to be a 'short for Richard' :D When's action man back home? ;)

Had my hair cut/coloured/highlighted yesterday which I love - always gives you a real boost doesn't it? I'm off to my Mums on friday for the weekend and out with the Girls on friday night so i'm going to make an effort - I've lost nearly 3 stone since I was last home (one off each b00b and another of my eyelashes i think :rotfl:) and although I'm still a heffer i'm feeling very good :D

Gentle day to day, DH was working last night and is again tonight so we've got a film to watch when he gets up later - I'm leaving him sleep as he was tired before he even went to work yesterday. I'm thinking something easy for dinner like cottage pie or Sausages, mash and veg - really want a day to rest as i'm getting over a nasty cold and really don't want to hit next weekend with no energy!

Need to make a list of what I need to take away with us although Mum has said to bring DD in the clothes she stands up in as she has money in her piggy bank for new clothes and I have christmas money left to buy new clothes with :D

But first I have a magazine to read - had it a week already and not got chance to look at it yet! Hugs all round xx

    Morning all,

Bright and breezy here :D so have our bedding on the line, and dd's in the machine.

DD is off with her dad today, so OH and I will take little dog for a nice walk, then list more stuff of ebay, I have bits finishing tonight, which are doing very well atm, more money for dd's trip.

Dinner tonight will be the pork steak crusty baggette from last night, my sis came back from holiday and came to collect her dod, and syated for ages, so we ended up having a quick soup and bread for dinner.

Need to pack a few more ebay parcels ready to post tomorrow. And hoover through.

Other than that a restful day.

Moorhen, I remember doing that with my dd and then slowly increasing the time they were alone, then letting her go on her own the first time

FS hope she is ok xx

    Miffy hugs to you.

Ok have good days all xx

Am just waiting for the Rev to finish getting dressed and we are off to church. My little village church this week which I really love.

All veg prepped for lunch, potatoes parboiled and two portions of roast pork defrosting.

    morning all,
hows this for old style. four of us - two adults and two children went out for breakfast today - all you can eat. so we had full english and the kids had cereal and fruit with yoghurts and muffins. all drinks included. we left stuffed and because i had a voucher total cost was 7.99. dont know if i can say names went to premier type of hotel sort of thing. it cost 15.00 for two adults and kids under 16 eat free and i had a buy one get one free voucher. i wont do a cooked meal today at all now. got a loaf in the breadmaker and we will have that for lunch/afternoon tea. got cake left and plenty of salad. got a party for the little one and he will then eat out and then im at work 1 til 6. so easy day food wise for me. all the house is already done and washing and ironing done. all a good job cos got the dreaded headache week before my period coming.
dont normally comment on other people but read and take it all in but i have to say hats off to jg with baby eliza. shes got herself back on track and the baby is still tiny. well done. i know i was a bit disorganised at times but she sounds like shes in total control.
