No Access to BarcCard statements

Hi All,

I currently don't have access to my Barclaycard statements due to a fault with Barclaycard's website.

I spoke to them on friday and asked them to fax me my latest statements so that I can check the transactions and pay it. Ive even got a recording of the call. The call was handled by a a foreign call centre. Wish we could opt out of these overseas call centres. They drive me nuts!

The lady clearly says that she will send the most recent statement by fax. However, after a 5 hour wait, a statement dated the 14th Nov 2011 arrived.

I still don't have access to my latest statements and i'm getting quite annoyed.

My questions is..... if I can't see my statement, how can they expect me to pay on time? All I can see is my account balance on the front page. Legally, how can they still charge interest?

  • The paper statement they send you?

MyBarclaycard shows you your running total, balance etc, thats how they expect you to pay on time.
  • Oh as for foreign call centres that depends on your barclays refer code and your relationship with the bank. I have a high refer code due to being Premier Life. I only ever speak to Manchester, Newcastle or Northampton for Barclaycard

I left Barclays 12 months ago because they were totally useless, so I think I'm stuck with foreign call centres on my Barclaycard.

I wish First Direct did a 1% cashback credit card. Then I'd drop my Barclaycard too.

hope you are able to access it now? i just tried mine and it worked, but then mine is just the credit card as i don't have a current account with them.

tell me about barclaycard call centre, terrible! i am cancelling my credit card with them once my offer on the card is over... i think i will just stay with lloyds and halifax... much better.

Its a technical fault with my web account. Apparently no one else is affected.
  • Have you opted for online statements only? I still have paper ones as well as online access!

    Did you obtain this legally?

Try Nat West. RBS. Lloyds TSB. Halifax. Bank of Scotland. Co-op Bank. Smile. Lots of alternatives that have UK call centres.

You call them and clarify what's due. Then you make payment. Following that, you make an official complaint outlining your frustrations, time and costs and ask them to fix things and send you a compensation payment alongside a goodwill payment.
Legally, how can they still charge interest?
Because you signed a credit agreement, borrowed money from them and agreed to repay it with interest.

Just because you're !!!!!! off with the service doesn't mean you can switch to an interest free credit card. Don't be so silly!

Agree with above (except I think it's OK to record conversations these days, it's just without the knowledge/agreement of the other party you might be limited as to what you can do with it. Willing to stand corrected.)

I would just add that by making a payment you are not agreeing that the amount you pay is due - ie you can safely pay now and still dispute any of the transactions later.

That's my understanding too. OFCOM/OFTEL seem to agree.
