Nail in tyre - MOT fail?

I'm sure this is an obvious yes, but, will my car fail its MOT for having a nail in two of the tyres?

Trust your instinct on this. Get the tyres repaired before the MOT.

No, it shouldn't actually- it will be an advisory from memory.
  • It will be an advisory.

But why are you driving around in your car if you know you have not one, but tyres with nails in...?! Are you 4king insane?!
  • ..especially as even Kwik-Fit only charge £20 to repair them.
  • Yep should be an advisory not a fail until it's seriously compromised the tyres integrity (ie not just a slow puncture). My boyfriend didn't even realise there was a nail in the front tyre of his BMW until it came back on the advisories of the MOT (the car itself went through first time).

  • lol, get them fixed, at most a tenner a tyre at your local non franchised tyre place.
  • They're in the tyre wall so can't be repaired. They seem to be plugging the hole and I've not had any problems (been there since July).....sorry to be such a girl, but is it dangerous? I'm guessing from your post harveybobbles that it is?
  • It will be dangerous if your driving down the motorway and your tyre bursts!!!!!

Stay on the safe side and replace. They are the only things that keep you in contact with the road.

OMG, you've been driving a car since July with nails in the walls of two tyres, words fail me. :(

Yes it is dangerous and yes you do need to get it sorted asap - 2 new tyres would be a good solution.
