Please can somebody give me a bit of advice, i saw an advert for a mothercare gift card on gumtree, i contacted the seller and we agreed he would send it,as i dotn have paypal and neither did he, he gave me his bank details and i sent money through. The card was send special next day delivery (card worth £280) my husband signed for it this morning, bought it in, only to find it looks like the post office machine has ripped it open as there is no card at all inside!
The problem is the reciept for 'proof of value' was in the envelope too (also missing)
on the royal mail forms it says i need to enclose proof of value, but i have non, all i have is my bank statement to say money left my account and went into his, have i just lost the £160 i paid for it?
:(:(:(

hold on
you sent some random £160
now you are surprised you have an empty envelope?
classic scam0 -
All you have for proof of value is the gumtree advert, which I can't imagine will be accepted.
Have you contacted the seller yet?0 -

i know, stupid of me, i just want to know where i stand, theyve been a regular seller on gum tree for years, and its not like it was an empty envelope , you can even see the inprint of the card so it was definately in there, ive even been bk in contact with him and he said if i need his bank statmetns he is happy to photo copy them to show money going in, but i dont think thats enought 'proof'0

Has he got a photo of the gift card number? You need some proof of the gift card existing?0

posted to see if there was anyway they could trace the giftcard - if it was delined refund through royal mail then maybe mothercare would re-issue a lost card. Thought it was best to post as if it was 'mine' than go into this story, gets a bit comfusing.0

Why have you got two gift cards for the same value?Quidco Earnings (since Dec 06): £467.750

Hang on here,
The postman brought it to the door, your husband signe for it and neither of them noticed it had been ripped open.
How?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I'd say this is the sellers responsibility to claim from RM and refund you. Although private sales are a case of caveat beware, i'm sure it would be easier to get a CCJ against the seller for not supplying goods.
Maybe if you're honest with us though somebody can help.0
