Howdy all!
Well, my lettuce is approaching edible-ness, thanks to the good weather.
Toms have been repotted, so batch 1 is in penultimate pots, with batch 2 just taken out of seed trays & planted into first pots.
Peas are going well. If it wasn't for the bad weather, I'd be planting them out tonight. 2nd batch are just starting to sprout.
Carrots seem fine. Last weekend I planted a 2nd batch in a flowerpot.
Also waiting to plant the beetroot out. I'm hoping that they're now big enough that the slugs won't bother with them...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Hate to post and dash but I'm off to Norfolk until Sunday, so just popped in to find someone to water my thread while I'm gone. I haven't seen lemonjelly around for a while. John's probably got enough on his plate recuperating. Lotus is too busy catching up with his own stuff.
Annie? I say, Annie!
Would you mind doing the honours please?
Sorry! Up to my neck in stuff! How is all with you MrBE?:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

, this is for once that I'm happy I am late with sowing everything.
My toms are maybe 8" high, most cucurbits haven't even seen the light yet, although some are at the true leaf stage.
I've been wondering about sowing tomatoes in root trainers, is it worth it, I have a surplus of RT now, so I may be off to do a google to find out.

Hi can anyone help something is eating my carrots from the bottom up!
first thing i noticed was a carrot had fallen over a week or so ago i thought it was just where they needed a water but it didnt perk up after watering, when i gave it a gentle pull it came up with only a tiny bit of carrot left, found another one today there was a small bit of the outside left about 1/4 inch and it was hollow with a black ant inside!
I didnt think ants ate carrots are they?0 -
My strawberries are almost ready to eat! Just need to turn a little bit more red.
My raspberry leaves are turning brown and crunchy on some plants. I find it hard to believe they are not getting enough rain. Anyone have any advice on this? I can't see anything else different about the plant.
Courgettes are growing lots of leaves
And despite my tomato plants only growing a few inches high I've adopted two massive plants!0 -

Don't think it will be ants. I have cutworm listed as the only other pest apart from carrot fly, so if could be those? However, recommended treatment is watering heavily, so if you've got weather like the rest of us then that's not very likely either. :undecidedIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Me today >
Woke up to carnage this morning. Wind must have been extreme during the night as I've lost loads of plants.
My toms have been broken (some stems are only 6 inches tall now), the plastic tomato house thing I'd secured with cable ties broke at the actual joints and blew off (leaving the cable tied tubular bits still securely fastened!). All the toms that were in that are broken in pieces as are the toms that were in a growbag in the corner.
Fed up. Gardening just isn't the same since we moved here, it's just one thing after another. I want to go home.
I hope none of you suffered wind damage.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Sorry to hear that AJ - not your week really, is it?
All those toms though that have broken off, will reroot - so just dunk them around the outside of a full plant pot and within a week they should have their own roots and be able to start again.
My 2x3m greenhouse ended up in the bushes after having ripped up the raised bed sides that it was attached to. It happens to us all.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
