Baking is a great thing to do n the rain problem is DH don't eat cake. Made bacon and cheese twist and carrot cake to take to my friend to help her move her furniture back. Got a lot done in 3 hous and she can now sleep in her bed

I have 5 carrot seedlings poking through :j they weren't there yesterday.
We decided to put our indoor plants outside to fend for themselves as we were sick to death of those Scaraid Flies hovering around the kitchen. We changed all the compost and it was fine for a couple of weeks and now they seem to have sprung back to life  I don't mind flies outside but I don't want to be splatting them while trying to eat dinner.
My tomatoes and peppers are getting their true leaves so will be getting potted on shortly,I need to sow more seeds but I'm limited to indoor windowsill space. Will have to see what I can sow and leave in the unheated greenhouse.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0 -
The competition carrots I sowed outside haven't germinated. Unless they did, but were immediately eaten by slugs and snails.
I'm going to wait until it warms up a bit before I sow more - haven't got many seeds left! :eek:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

And well done you - you must be pretty pleased with the new growing space - it looks ideal. Get some spuds in quick.
So it will! Had a look, turns out it is indeed West facing. Not sure that means owt really but interesting to know.
Yes thank you, really chuffed with how it is starting to come along. Need a weekend of dry whether when we get back so that we can finish preparing the area. Quietly hoping that our neighbour replaces the fence while we're away so that there'll be no plant trampling but I think that might be a bit hopeful. He's doing it himself and I know it takes time and costs money.
Your father's garden looks just beautiful. I would love to have an area so pretty when we one day get our own patch to do with as we please. We decided to put our indoor plants outside to fend for themselves as we were sick to death of those Scaraid Flies hovering around the kitchen.
Does that happen with a lot of indoor plants or is it a particular type you have been growing? Or is it your seedlings? Sounds unpleasant0 -
I've got flowers on the "Mohammed's Hot" chilli, the Wenks, plus Nardello and Corno Rosso peppers. I have no idea what's going on here - they're still in fiddling little pots - not even close to the final flower buckets.
Edit: and the Fatali chillies.
I'm not complaining though. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

It would be unfair of me not to acknowledge the graft my Mum puts in too. The weeding, the deadheading, the nightly trips round the garden with a torch, collecting slugs, snails and lily beetles... plus much, much more.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

MBE - are you mocking me??
I've eaten the two peppers from my over-wintered pepper plant today. Yummy. Do I get a prize for being the first to eat something I've grown this year?0 -

Errm...:o...well, yeah, a little bit but not in a mean way.I too am growing potatoes I haven't planted. And they're way ahead of the ones I did plant! :rotfl:

No. Sorry. This year I've already eaten Romanesco cauliflower, leeks and rhubarb. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
