Car insurance claim

Let's hope not. That sounds like just the type of phrase an insurer will jump on as an exuse to say it was an uninsured event, leaving your wife personally liable for the cost of everything
If you were the showroom owner, who would you be looking to to cover the cost of repairs to the fence?
Exactly, i feel sorry for the guy who's showroom she hit, he was a genuinely nice guy about it all, i'd love to make it up to him if i could. I was looking at it from the point of view of her insurance, not my personal view and wondered if they might be a bit ratty about it.0 -
Even when its all sorted out, it will still be a 'claim' so her insurance costs will stay 'rocketed' Im afraid.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I would give the car showroom a ring and see if they have any idea of repair costs yet. It really depends on how much of the fence was damaged and what it's made of, but I wouldn't be surprised if it costs more than paying her insurance for the whole year.0

The fire service, ambulance and maybe the police all make claims to the insurance company.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Eh? so no money to pay the insurance, but enough to buy another car? :huh:Wrote the car off sunday, monday i bought a new car for her to drive. She drives it, it belongs to me.
Why didn't she buy the car? It's a lot easier (and so typically cheaper) to insure driving your own car than someone elses.
And so how is she insured to drive this new car you bought the day after she wrote off her own? "Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Assuming you're TPF&T on the policy, then I the Insurer will normally still allow you to pay the premium via instalments assuming you had already agreed to pay via instalments.0

I'm sorry for not being clearer but my head has not been in the right place this week. Firstly, i received a phonecall from a complete stranger saying my wife had been in a bad car accident and was being cut out by the fire brigade. After waiting at the hospital for three hours not knowing if she was alive or dead, she arrived and after a series of xrays and Ct scans she was discharged the next day, none the worse for wear but a lot of bruising. Over the past two years i have been scrimping and saving to pay for my three young children to have a holiday, they have never had one, i saved 1300 pounds. My wife is a support worker for people with mental health problems. She needs to drive around to see them all, the car is a necessity of her job, the children as well and my 2 disabled parents who live with us make it impossible for us to do without one. So, i bought the car for £500, insured it with swiftcover, paid £300 removal fee's on the old car, £50 scrappage fee's and £80 storage along with the road tax on the new one. So i'm sure you can understand that if we dont have a car, we dont have an income to pay anyone out of anyway.
All our savings are gone and i came here to get advice from people more knowledgeable than myself so i could get a rough idea of how much more it's going to cost so i can better prepare for whatever is coming ahead in the future.0 -
Ask the insurance company if you/she can still pay for the other insurnance in installments.
Its as simple as that really, if they say no, it will be a case of borrowing, could the parents help out at all.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
