No heating or hot water - can you help?

Hi All,
I'm not sure where to post this really. Our boiler has broken and we have no heating or hot water. After being messed about by Scottish Power for 3 months (we had a service contract with them) - they've now decided that the boiler is beyond economical repair and have cancelled our contract! They didn't bother to phone to tell us this - I found out when I rang up to see what was happening.
We can't afford a new boiler and we're stuffed basically.
Does anyone know of any way to get a new one on a payment plan although we're in a debt management plan with CCCS at the moment so not sure if anyone would accept us?
Any advice would be most welcome please?
Thanks Sarah x

Make and model of boiler? Age? I'd be getting a second opinion from an independent local GSR RGI who knows the brand-if parts are available then it may well be repairable. What have you been told is wrong with it?
What is not economic for SP may be so for someone who knows their boilers.
In the meantime do you not have an immersion heater as a backup-and you can use (buy/beg/borrow) cheap panel heaters for space heating?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • It's a Ravenheat and it's 18 years old. My cousin's husband fitted it and he agreed that we'd struggle to get parts for it and it's probably beyond economical repair. No we don't have an immersion heater or tank as it's a combi boiler we had the tank taken out when it was fitted. We have heaters that we've borrowed and we do have a gas fire but it's far from ideal and we will need a new boiler at some point.
    Thanks x

Try an Energy trust scheme which if you are on a low income/have small childrent etc etc will pay for a new boiler/repair etc., just google Eneergy Trust scheme or look on here and it tells you on the homepage about it. hope this helps.

No one can help with parts unless you say which model and what is wrong with it.

If you can't afford to get your boiler mended/replaced, can you afford to have an electric shower fitted over your bath? This would at least give you hot water for washing.
