Hi m5rcc,
This is a little worrying if your meter isn't recording your use, as well as the damage to the meter.
Could you send me your details to forumresponse@npower.com and I'll have a look at this for you?
Best wishes,
Adam

Hi m5rcc,
I've received your email and passed this to our executive complaints team.
I understand you've now spoken to them and this is all being sorted?
If you have anything else, just drop me an email.
Best wishes,

Yep thanks
Going to be sorted, with a new meter on a standard rate removing my night rate (which I no longer need) and hopefully can work out a fair value for what I owe you since August 2011.0 -
Deary me - sadly common sense has eluded people.
I don't know if anyone can see from the pictures, but it would appear that the live fuse is to the right of that yellow box. The engineer that came round says he can't access it and therefore can't change the broken meter. They have asked me to do it instead.
Considering that I did NOT install neither the original live fuse nor the meter, why is it MY responsibility to make it accessible, even though it is as it is in a cupboard! A carpenter wouldn't touch this job because of the live fuse threat. Surely this can only be done by a competent engineer, no?
Could anyone assist?0 -

It may be that you have what is commonly referred to as a 'metal clad cutout' (fuse) which some meter enginners are not trained to work on. You need to confirm this with your supplier and then arrange for the Distributor (DNO) to change it (number will be on you bill).
Is it required today?0 -
What area mpan are you in? You will need as above the local dno to upgrade it to the new style fuse carrier/ cutout , it will take a few weeks todo. Its quicker for you to call them direct, or you can get npower to book, although been fair to their complaints they would not of known as they are not qualified and half of them have never seen a meter before. Although the engineer was stupid to suggest, sounds like he was a mops engineer.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Spoken to UK Power Networks and explained what had happened. They advise that the metal clad cutout contains a fuse that can be removed which will enable for the meter to be installed without problems.0
