Cashback from existing phone provider

'lo all.

I am out of contract with my current mobile provider (T-Mobile) but would like to stay with them. I'm sure I can get a decent loyalty discount by calling up and renewing in the usual way, but I'd like to take account of the £101 TCB offer for new SIM-only customers if possible. Is there a way to sign up to this deal without having to get a new line? Instead have them move my number over to the new contract?

Ta.

There is, but its lengthy and may not be beneficial over a retention deal.

You need to take out the new contract.

You need to stop your contract and port your number to another network's PAYG scheme.

Then you need to port the number back to T-Mobile onto your new sim only contract.

Now there are things worth considering:

This removes your history with TMobile and makes you a 1 year customers
If your current contract is with phone this makes your monthly spend higher which would lead to a better retention offer.
Next year at the end of the sim only contract will affect any retention deal the following year as your average revenue will be lower.
  • OK, thanks. I wasn't on a phone contract - effectively a SIM only deal. Was paying £10/month - they offered me £6/month for 12 months. So a £48 per year saving, but only half the cashback deal. But what you have described above sounds like a lot of effort!

It's not a lot of effort for the amount of money that you can save. Just buy a new contract through TCB, order some free PAYG sim, then port number in two steps if you want to keep it. Moving my number from T-Mobile to T-Mobile!
And you 'loyalty' history at t-mobile is worthless to be afraid of losing it.

However, £101 cashback is for £20+ contracts only. Do you really need such tariff if you was on the £10 one so far?
