Its a question of how long should it last?
Were looking for a yearly figure to calculate the percentage cost for a rental property.
The question is the same as ''How long is a piece of string?''
Doesn't the SOGA say a reasonable length of time for a product to be useable is approx 6 years? Or is that, how long you have to complain about a fault with them and you proving it was an inherent fault from new. I would say it would be 6 years.
If you are looking at it from a rental property point of view, I would say about 3 years. The amount of abuse appliances get by people renting will shorten it's life no end.0 -

Ok, 6 years tops.
HTHIf it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I'd say 6 years too.
Ours broke after 3. Got it fixed and it broke again."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Six sounds good..
T damaged hob, 2 outcomes -
1. T will be fully liable for costs to have the glass replaced (100% of cost). Quotes have been asked for.
2. If the hob is replaced, T will be only charged for 60% of the cost to supply hob, but 100% of the cost to fit the hob.
This is why we require life expectancy.. The life depends on how much T has to pay.0 -
And the winner is.... 8 years..
Thanks all.0 -
I installed a (£250) Baumatic touch control ceramic 9 years ago.
I treat it carefully - it gets cleaned regularly, and pans are not banged down on it.
It's never had a fault and looks 'as new'.
Might it fail tomorrow? Of course?
Do I hope it will last another 5 + years? Yes?0
