  • Don't worry Mrs PG. Plenty of fun planned over the Christmas period. Not really my favourite time of year, but any excuse for a night out :-)

  • I'm back! Wow, it's been a really long time since I last updated.

Everything is going really well. Christmas budget is very much intact following a family agreement to not go mad on gifts, and work is super-busy (but I secretly quite like that).

The really big news though is I'M OVER 50% PAID OFF!!! I've cheated a *little* bit and made some of my Jan payments early, but the money came from my December 2012 pay cheque so in my eyes that is completely acceptable ;-)

Feels really good, especially considering that this time last year I just felt completely overwhelmed by debt worries. I don't think I realised at the time quite how much of a negative impact it had on so many aspects of my life... but that's all in the past now.

It's so nice having a bit more breathing room on a monthly basis BUT the task is far from over! I need to have one final push and hopefully this time next year I will be posting that I am completely debt-free! What a great Christmas present.

Right, I'm keeping it short-and-sweet (for a change).

Wishing you all a happy, relaxing and treat-filled Christmas.

  • Ok, I know I said I'd keep it short and sweet, but I can't believe I've paid off over £15k in a year! I feel half proud and half really angry because that money could have been for me rather than the banks! Oh well, no point crying over spilt milk (or spilt smoothies Mrs PG). I'll use that anger to push and get the rest paid off next year. Bring it on!!!

  • Thanks Beanielou! Actually, I did have a bit of a disaster the other day. I have been saving my spare change all year with a view to cashing it in for Xmas. I had visions of there being hundreds and hundreds of pounds in there... only to realise that most of the weight was in the jar itself and there was only £35 in it!

Oh well, at least I've learnt not to dip in and out of it for spare change next year :-)

  • Well everyone, today is the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of my debt-free wannabe diary!

I can't believe it's been a year! Wow! I probably haven't posted anywhere near as much as I should/could have but having the diary here when I needed it has been such a support for me.

I remember how I felt typing that first entry a year ago today. Anger, embarrassment, guilt, depression - but also hope and determination.

Here I am one year on feeling really happy - the happiest I've been in years - AND I've paid over half my debts off (53% to be precise)!

Got another holiday coming up in a few weeks BUT it has all been paid for from my regular pay cheques - not a credit card in sight. So happy that I've been able to balance the debt busting with living my life. There were a few times when it all got a bit too much, but I'm in a much better place now. Less debt, more fun.

Just twelve more months and I'll (hopefully) be writing that I am 100% debt-free... and I CANNOT WAIT!!!
