Good challenge Beanielou!
I think I could definitely do a need/want review on the house stuff. It's a new build but I moved in 18mths ago and still haven't got curtains or flooring in some rooms. In all honesty, a lot of them are rooms I don't use so I don't really mind, but it's a bit embarrassing when people come over :-SAIM: Debt free by [STRIKE]Dec13[/STRIKE]/Apr14TOTAL: Jan12 [STRIKE]£30,000[/STRIKE]/£13,300 Mar13[STRIKE]AMEX[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2,500[/STRIKE] Bank [STRIKE]£12,000[/STRIKE]/£8,500 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,000[/STRIKE]/£4,800 [STRIKE]Parents[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£8,500[/STRIKE]0 -

Sorry for late reply on this Beanielou. Really good challenge, again. Re-reading my first post I guess this is exactly what I meant when I said I feel I 'should' have a nice house full of nice things etc. You are right though, my friends come to see me, not the house, and they have waited 18mths so what harm is another 3 going to do eh? Cheers!AIM: Debt free by [STRIKE]Dec13[/STRIKE]/Apr14TOTAL: Jan12 [STRIKE]£30,000[/STRIKE]/£13,300 Mar13[STRIKE]AMEX[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2,500[/STRIKE] Bank [STRIKE]£12,000[/STRIKE]/£8,500 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,000[/STRIKE]/£4,800 [STRIKE]Parents[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£8,500[/STRIKE]0

Hi Mr Dec,
Good to see you back. Have to agree with Beanie though. We lived without flooring in our last house for about 2 years I think , but we still didnt manage to do the main bedroom until after DD1 came along ! I suppose if you have flooring in the main living areas thats the most important thing and as Beanie says if the friends visit, I'm sure its you they are visiting and not the house. It s a tough one though isnt it ? I am very house proud and like things just so, but I have swiftly changed my way of thinking, and realised that redecoration can wait a little longer. Mine was a new build 10 years ago, and some rooms still have the watered down Magnolia Walls !
Anyway it sounds as though you are doing well, well done on the pay rise and paying your parents. Its a good feeling isnt it ? Glad to hear work is busy for you, as tiring as it is, long may it continue.
Good to see you over on my diary, you are most welcome to join in on my rambles and poltical discussions ! :rotfl:

Happy Easter everyone!!! Thought I would pop in to pen a quick update before all the festivities begin, and to thank everyone for their comments.
I decided to pay £1,000 off the AMEX rather than spending it on the house, which has brought my total outstanding down to £18,900. Makes me feel a little bit sick writing that huuggge number down, but I also feel pretty damn chuffed considering that my debts were up at £30,000 less than 3 months ago! I've had a look at some numbers and my new stretch target is to be under £12,000 by the end of 2012 (rather than my original target of under £15,000).
This time last year me and some mates decided to go to Vegas for Easter, just for the hell of it. What a difference a year makes! Don't get me wrong, we had an amazing time, but it must have cost a good £2,000 overall. Oh dear!!! No such extravagances this year, well, maybe a creme egg ;-)AIM: Debt free by [STRIKE]Dec13[/STRIKE]/Apr14TOTAL: Jan12 [STRIKE]£30,000[/STRIKE]/£13,300 Mar13[STRIKE]AMEX[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2,500[/STRIKE] Bank [STRIKE]£12,000[/STRIKE]/£8,500 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,000[/STRIKE]/£4,800 [STRIKE]Parents[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£8,500[/STRIKE]0 -
How are you Mr Dec ?
How was your Un Vegas Like Easter ?!
Well done for paying such a good lump sum off of the Amex card. Thats a great start, and an amazing figure to pay off so quickly ! Just goes to show what you can do if you put your mind to it !
Maybe next Easter with the Debt gone, you can go back to LAs Vegas, but this time paid for in cash with not a credit card in sight !
Well Done. Hope you have a lovely weekend

Thanks Mrs PG! Easter was pretty chilled - definitely no Las Vegas - but I'm a big believer that who you are with is more important than where you are.
Wanted to pop on to pen a quick update as I think it's important to post on a regular basis - even when there isn't much going on :-S I guess that is my biggest 'concern' at the moment. Everything is going really well, I'm making great progress, and I am genuinely loving it - but I think I've hit 'the wall'.
I've done a lot of the big stuff and now it's just a case of knuckling down and paying it all off. Sometimes it gets me down but on the whole I'm pretty positive. Been working hard at the gym (which is a great distraction) and I've even started working up some business ideas for all the money I'm going to have when I've paid my debts off :-) Watch this space...!AIM: Debt free by [STRIKE]Dec13[/STRIKE]/Apr14TOTAL: Jan12 [STRIKE]£30,000[/STRIKE]/£13,300 Mar13[STRIKE]AMEX[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2,500[/STRIKE] Bank [STRIKE]£12,000[/STRIKE]/£8,500 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,000[/STRIKE]/£4,800 [STRIKE]Parents[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£8,500[/STRIKE]0 -
Interested to hear your business ideas for the future Mr Dec.
You sound much more upbeat and positive than you were a few weeks ago. Well Done ! As you have seen over on my diary I tend to post any old ramblings even if there is nothing much to report on the debt busting front, but it keeps me focused, as I really need to hit this whole debt thing on the head !!
I am off to the gym tomorrow to see if I can fit a membership into my already tight budget , apparently I should be going to the gym at least three times a week to strengthen my back, accordongy to the so called medical experts !Oh how I wish the I had the time !! But I will trundle off down there tomorrow and see what they have to say !
Hope you are having a good week xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
