Getting a untaxed vehicle to an MOT station

Pass or fail you can drive it home aswell. It makes sense to ask the station to record your reg number so plod can check easily that you are not lying. I would say "The car has no tax, so I need you to record that I am booked in" Strictly speaking there is no requirement for this but you would then have to prove to a court that you did book/arrange it before hand.... how will you do that? Of course the flip side is that prosecution needs to prove you didn't do it, but magistrates are not exactly fair courts IMHO.
You should only deviate from the direct route if it is necessary. You should only shop if it is reasonable to do so.0
