Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")

I know this thread is a few days old, but had to show my DD the cake and the invites.

She want's to know if she organises the Dr Who wedding for you, can she come??!!! (only 10 btw and not much wedding planning experience!)
  • My wife and I are renewing our vows later this year, and we've agreed* to have a Doctor Who themed do.

I'm wearing the outfit that the Doctor wore to Amy and Rory's wedding, and we're having a TARDIS in the gardens for photos as well as a TARDIS cake.

I'm trying to think of other things we could do, especially if they can involve the kids. Maybe a game of pin the plunger on the Dalek.

Can anyone think of any other ideas?

*I begged and begged until she relented.
    :D
I am very jealous, we are all Dr Who mad. Love your invitations! How about a candy/sweet buffet with a sign saying 'Hello Sweetie' ;) (including jelly babies, jammy dodgers, fairy cakes with tardis blue icing and 'edible ball bearings' ) If you have tables you could name them after the 11 doctors or certain episodes? You can get small cardboard cutouts as centrepieces or toy Tardis'.
BTW My Ds (nearly 7) says that fish fingers and custard is really nice, maybe have some real fish fingers for anyone feeling brave lol. :)

I'm trying to sell this idea to my OH now- absolutely love it!

And to the OP am loving the invites- they look amazing. Please can I come to your wedding? I guarantee I will get every reference you put out there and you really need someone who will appreciate ALL of the effort :D
  • We actually had a few Dr Who touches in our wedding (OH is a mad Dr Who fan) - here's a couple of photos of what we did...

My best man actually wanted the rings to be brought in by a working model of K-9 he has, but couldn't get permission to bring it into the registry office.

OH also co-writes a DR Who fanzine, and we had a special edition made up by the best man with a little story, photos and messages from people who couldn't be there - that was really lovely!

I know it is too late for this party but if you are having your own Doctor Who themed party and would like some more food ideas, check out the Doctor Who posts on my food blog Vohn's Vittles (posted each day on 19th-23rd November 2013).

I have lots of different Doctor Who biscuits, a delicious recipe for Fish Fingers and Custard, a completely unique vegetarian version of the fourth doctor's fabulous scarf and a Dalek cake.

Sorry - too new here to be allowed to post an actual link to it, so you'll have to search!

My SIL made us a Tardis post box for everyone to post their cards in. She made it from MDF and painted it blue and stuck the St Johns sticker and the police sign on it.

    It was a huge hit
