£35 Peacocks gift card and can't spend it

I was given a £35 Peacocks gift card for my birthday last month. I went into the shop yesterday to spend it and I was told that the don't accept them and to contact the administrators. As I understand it you would get about 2 pence for every pound back from them so it does not seem worthwhile.
As this was paid for using a Visa debit card is there any recourse I can take with the bank?

Seems a bit of a nightmare situation and not very fair considering they have already had the money!!
More information here:

It does say though gift vouchers will not be accepted, you can contact the administrators enquiry line on 02920 270800 to see exactly what you can do

How does chargeback work?
Chargeback is a process that allows you ask your card provider to reverse a card transaction if there is a problem with goods you have purchased..
Claims must be addressed to the bank that provides your debit card or your credit card, which in turn will put in a request to the merchant's bank. As a result, you could still get your money back from the merchant's bank if the money is there to be recovered. However, there are no guarantees that your bank will be able to recover the money through chargeback.
There is also a time limit on claims - Visa, for example, sets a 120 day time limit which starts from the day you are aware of a problem.

I spent some La Senza vouchers online about 10days ago, and the goods never arrived - and nor did any notification that they wouldn't. I just went online after about a week to find the notice of administration. Does anyone know if I can do anything?0

i've never understood gift vouchers.
why not give some one Bank of England gift vouchers? they're accepted every where and are unlikely to be made null & void due to the company going bust.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
A chargeback would probably reject. The person who bought the gift voucher would need to ask their card issuer to action this. BUT, as they paid for a gift voucher and they received a gift voucher, it would probably reject as they received what they paid for. Not their card issuers fault the recipient didn't spend it before Peacocks went bust !0

Does no one on here use the search function, or failing that Google?
There have been LOADS of threads on this, I've explained both the La Senza and Peacocks situation over and over.
Basically, you have no rights to the goods from the company. Search for my more in depth answer regarding why, or just go back a couple of pages and you'll find the other threads.0 -

No, short of contacting the bank the vouchers were bought with and requesting a chargeback or S75 claim. If you paid with cash you're not seeing that again.0 -
