AOL - Gold Package WARNING

Just a warning to all AOL Gold users. AOL have just upgraded their Silver package speed to 2mbps, this is the same as the Gold package.
I phoned them and asked why I was paying £10 per month more for exactly the same deal, the operator said that all Gold package members would have their accounts automatically altered from £24.99 per month to £14.99 per month. I phoned again to ask for a refund for the payment I made at the begining of the month and was told that I had only downgraded my account on the 11th of Feb so was not entitled to a refund.
If you are on the Gold package I suggest that you phone AOL and downgrade to Silver yourself as i dont believe this will be an automatic downgrade.
Oh and since AOL now charge us for the privilege of speaking to them I use
https://www.saynoto0870.com to find their freephone number.
Will write and complain to AOL about this overcharging and the fact that they couldnt inform anyone of these price changes by email !!! (according to their customer service agent! and they call themselves an internet provider???)

Just to let you know that I am paying £9.99 (not £14.99) for AOL Silver.
There are others on this site who are also paying the same.
So make sure you go back to AOL and try to get Silver at £9.99.
Good luck.0 -
We were paying 24.99 until oct 06, then phoned them and got it reduced to 19.99 plus a free router.
I then phoned two weeks ago when I read on this site there was no longer a gold package and they reduced ours to 9.99 aswell.
Well worth a phone call.
Good luck

Yes i was £21.99 until last summer told them what about a price cut for me.Due to the fact companies like AOL tend only to look after new customers.Been with them for nearly three years downgraded to Silver £9.99 a month. Will leave soon though, has anyone had connection drop out lately since 10/02/07 its happening every 30 seconds or so... have normal checks etc South Yorkshire area.0

Ive had nothing but hassle lately with aol disconnecting. Im on aol platinum and im only getting it at 1.6mbps. Ive told them about this on numerous times and nothing ever gets done. Last week i told them im leaving and they offered me platinum for £9.99/month. Id rather pay more somewhere else.
I was thinking of going with BT because there package includes phone calls and as we rarely use our phone we just pay line rental just to have broadband.

Anyone got the £9.99 deal lately, spoke to AOL the other day for a friend and they said there's no longer a £9.99 deal0

Thanks TrikerAndBiker I was still paying £17.99 for my Silver package. I phoned them using the number on your link and was offered the £14.99 and free wireless router or upgrade to Platinum for £17.99 a month
Well worth a 5 min call0 -

I got my wireless router couple of months earlier.
I then 'asked' them to put me on £9.99 deal for Silver.
I suggest you also do the same.
It's worth £60 per year.
As they say every penny helps.0
