Rents decreased for the second month running following a decrease in December.
With Christmas out of the way now though we should see the return of rent rises as all these people who didn't need houses over the Christmas period suddenly surge into the rental market.

Huh? What were they doing? Eating their Christmas dinner on Waterloo Bridge?
Why would the need for rental property be higher in January than it is in December?0

Oh dear bendix. A bit slow today?
It's an example of cutting sarcasm from an especially bitter indivdiual. It's seen quite a lot in this forum which makes it all the more surprising you haven't spotted it.

The bulls often accuse the bears of only mentioning bad news.
Well, why aren't the bulls discussing this good news ?
We need more money to be left in the pockets of more people, to help the struggling economy. Lower rents are a small step in right direction.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0

I just looked up LHA for my county for January 2011, 2010 and 2009 and it's dropped.
 It's down from £485/month to £450/month from 2009-2011. That's 7.5% down.
The trouble is the length/breadth of the LHA area, which is 80 miles from one end to the other.... so the cheaper rents must be in really remote places with no jobs or anything.
Another factor in the 1-bed world is that it probably just means loads of houses have been chopped into cr4ppy 1-bed flats and there's a lot of them, so they won't be "nice"0

Anyone else finding the 'bull' and 'bear' thing increasingly tedious? Can we just discuss something sensibly without having to split off into gangs?
Its no bad thing for the wider economy if rents fall to a level that is reasonable for both tenants and landlords alike.0

It's not increasing tedious, because it was already and always has been tedious to the maximum possible degree. I think it's some kind of desire to be viewed as having some sort of credible expertise on the subject, rather than just being another person arguing about stuff they don't really have a clue about (not that I am saying that I do). Of course it just makes people sound like knobs. A bit like investment bankers making up a new language to make it seem like the things they do are complicated.0

Just out of interest what are they wrong about? I would have thought that the bull/bear description would cover an opnion at a moment in time not a lifelong club membership It must have been tough for those whose housing bear enlightenment came in 2002 It must have been tough for those whose housing bear enlightenment came in 2002 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
