Peacocks Gift Card

We bought my daughter a £20 Peacocks voucher on Jan 5th but they refused to take it yesterday (as it says on their web site). We bought it using our Barclaycard so any idea if we can get a refund from them? The Barclaycard Purchase Protection details on their web site have a lower limit of £75 but that's for loss/damage to goods so not sure about refused gift cards in this situation. Have sent a message to Barclaycard asking but wondered if anyone has already got an answer?
It does occur to me however, that Barclaycard could say something like "You purchased a gift card and received a gift card. Nothing wrong here."
I hope I am wrong. Just be prepared is all I'm saying.0 -
If he leaves the store with goods he hasn't paid for then offcourse he is stealing!
The debate is whether they have been paid for, though. They've received money and accepted it after all.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
Can I just clear things up, Peacocks is now being run by KBMG and we have not been selling Gift Cards since Monday or Tuesday at the latest, why on earth would we be still be selling gift cards if you could not use them?0

Are you speaking on behalf of Peacocks, KPMG or as an employee of either?0 -

If that is true then its a disgrace. The 'problem' (well not really a problem!) is these days, thanks to people like Martin Lewis, customers are so consumer right savvy and we now have a culture of knowing our rights and being able to claim our money back. That, together with the fact we are in a recession and every penny counts for us, I completely understand why people are upset about having vouchers (and a lot of us do as its less than a month after Xmas). But can we please spare a thought for the poor staff who are on the verge of losing their jobs and their remaining days are to deal with irate customers. I remember it happened to my Mum when she worked for Woolworths, she would come home in tears ever night because every day, she was receiving abuse. But if she didn't not turn up for work every day until the store closed, she would lose most of her redundancy money.
I personally was given £80 of Peacocks vouchers and am gutted that I didnt know about the problems in time to be able to get to Peacocks and spend them. But, I have a job, and for that, I am truly grateful.:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -
Just for clarity, can you please tell us who the 'we' is when you say "we have not been selling Gift Cards"?

Peacocks told all Stores on Mon/Tuesday to stop selling gift cards, that is all you need to know.0 -
'We' probably means he works for them, but in the interests of anonymity and company policy it's probably not a good idea to post about it on a forum.0

You got what you paid for.
You bought a gift card and got a gift card.
I am in the same situation but with Capitalone.
I don't believe they are under any obligation to refund you but of course they can if they want to show good customer service, so I would still put in a dispute.0 -

I'd say they haven't. A form of payment was offered, but rejected. In the same way if you was refused service in a shop, you wouldn't be able to just leave cash on the counter and leave -- the cash on the counter is still yours and the goods still belong to the shop.0
