Depending on what you want the internet on your tv to do the nintendo wii is ideal - the iplayer and youtube aren't fantastic quality but browsing webpages is easy and relatively pleasant, a bit weird to begin with, because you move the pages up with the wiimote.

If you want to watch downloaded films etc, the revo might be better or a laptop with hdmi output. I have a laptop and use it for this purpose but keep trying to weigh up whether I need one a revo. I have some internet access on my panasonic but it's not as easy to use as plugging the laptop in or using the wii.

Thanks closed. Thought 'internet tv' meant you could access full internet in all regards. Seems it is actually restricted to various apps on whichever tv you buy so this isn't any good to me. All I wanted was to be able to watch internet streamed sports programs on a bigger screen in the lounge rather than on computer screen in computer room. Now thinking of buying larger monitor. Seems simplest solution.

going down the large monitor route with your existing setup will mean trailing cables and opportunities of breaking things etc, and frankly, unless you can really bury them under ground, they look nasty. If you don't want a bulky computer in your living room, but this will be something you do often (watch streamed online) then please consider a Revo Aspire (as posted by "Linbox" above) http://www.ebuyer.com/279901-acer-aspire-revo-r3700-nettop-pt-seme2-045 is the one you want (as I'm guessing you'd not want to deal with a Linux one which is actually the cheaper one). Throw in with a Home plug, then you don't even have to deal with Wireless (though if encrypted, it really is ok to use)

Basically I have a nice large TV with the Revo plugged in in my living room, seeing as I can't get normal reception for TV (hoping for digitial when we're finally enabled) so I download/stream tv. You can't even see the Revo behind the TV, and if you opt for a new monitor/revo set up, some you can actually screw the revo to the back so it'd never be seen. A monitor would be better, over a TV, as most cheaper TV's don't do great res for PC, (Suits me fine with visual probs tho!)

Please be aware that Streaming live tv will still require a TV licence, it will also eat up your internet if you happen to have an allowance. ie I have 60gig peak, unlimited off peak. Only iplayer will allow you to download later (i torrent ch5/ch4/itv overnight generally). You really need to check out what your limits are on your net if you're streaming TV during the peak time (daytime) as with mine, 60gb seems a lot, but it's only 2gig a day, which spread on general browsing, and maybe a couple of streamed programs is eaten up fast.

(within line of sight of tv area)

Could you get a big monitor and then just move the sofa to line of sight and leave everything else where it is?

Where is the router because if you want to avoid trailing cables without going wireless it will need to be near TV.

'Nothing to fear with wireless' apart from filling the airwaves with yet more gunk which is (IMO) assaulting our bodies and our brains.
Are you happy to be part of the worlds biggest experiment? Unfortunately however careful some of us are, there is little we can do about the current global wireless obsession and the habits of our neighbours :(

As gonzo suggested, a pair of 200 MBps Homeplugs will be the neatest solution.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
