Orange coverage issues
Hi,
I've recently moved to an area where my Orange signal is bordering on being unusable. There are only 2/3 places in the house where I can get a signal that enables me to make calls. I'm unable to make phone calls as the signal cuts out within a minute or two.
I rang orange today and enquired about the problem. They said I'm in a low coverage area, and that the T-Mobile signal should be stronger (it isn't).
I have around 16-18 months left on my current contract, so I was wondering whether or not I could use this an a clause to get out of the contract?
Cheers
Andy

As far as I am aware you cant no.
Basically it isnt Orange's fault you moved and they will fully expect you to honour your contract. i have the same problem with mine and even the T-Mobile connection is poor.No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0 -
Wasn't being too hopeful on things, but you never know if you don't ask0

Yes you are right no harm in asking you never know you may get a surprise
Like davehughes182 i can't see them cancelling your contract
Most mobile company's don't guarantee signal inside the house and even if they did you moved away from the signal they would have guarantee anyway
Orange will cancel your contract if you pay the remanding amount left on it
Good luck hope all turns out for you.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -

That's quite right. It is called UMA and some HTC, LG, Nokia and Blackberry handsets have this feature - scheck with Google/Orange.
But be warned, these have to be Orange provided. Any handsets from, say. CPW being unlocked will NOT have the relevant software upgrade.
I have an Optimus 1with UMA and that works as I have exactly the same issue.0 -
I ordered a phone online from CPW with an orange 12m rolling contract. The orange website says that signal in my area is excellent but I cannot get any signal at all in my house which basically makes the phone useless for my needs. Would I be able to return the phone/cancel the contract on this basis?Wedding 5th September 20150

Remember if it's within 7 days of purchase you can reject it under the DSR.
The signal checkers do state they are for guidance only on the sites.0 -
Further, most of the checkers only report external coverage as there is no way they can predict building materials etc which will have a major effect on reception.0

I have terrible coverage areas for the general phone and internet connections with my iPhone on the Orange network.
I left Vodafone to join Orange in June last year and have regretted it ever since.
Due to my job and the nature of it I come into contact with a lot of people and the topic of mobile phones always comes up - Orange is always a negative as everyone I speak to who live and work in the West Yorkshire area (particularly Wakefield) have coverage issues.
I have to turn my 3G off to receive incoming calls otherwise they just go to voicemail - use of the internet is painfully slow and after a lot of Contact with Orange staff at the call centre and in the shops they informed me after a couple of months that they had problems with the masts in the area that I live and work.
I have since complained to their customer services dept and they have replied saying they cannot guarantee coverage at any one time in any one place and said I cannot get out of my 24 month contract. I asked for compensation explaining that I could not use the facilities I was paying for and cited things like the small amount of internet usage on my bills in comparison to my entitlement (I would use more if I could!) - they offered my £30 - which I felt was an insult and didn't accept.
I don't know where to turn now as I think this is a massive issue that Orange have, not just in my area but everywhere, and if they cannot
provide decent coverage then they should alter their prices accordingly - my partner has an iPhone on the Vodafone network and we work in the same area and live together and he doesn't experience any of the problems I do.
I think we need Martin's help to fight this battle with Orange...... can anyone help???!!!!0
