The van is only worth £2K!!

    !!!!!!??

Do you think the insurer cares whether it is £2k or not when he hits a £50k car and writes if whilst injuring that driver or killing another and the personal injury comes in at over £1 million?

Cost of vehicle is often insignificant compared to cost of payout.
and they wonder why ppl drive without insurance

Do you think that ugly rapists can rape because they cant get attractive girlfriends?
or that burglars who dont earn enough legally to support their lifestyle can use that excuse?

  • Yes, with a 21 yr old driver that van could be a death trap for other motorists. Van drivers 'in my experience' are bad drivers, and a 21 yr old male added into the mix, if I was an insurance company I would charge more than that for him. Its not so much the value of the van (you worry about that only) its the value of personal injury claims he may cost the insurance company, that's where the real 'risk' comes into play. At 21 their driving experience is minimal, a male is more likely to take risks when driving, gung-ho attitudes etc (when cars, vans, lorries are lethal in the wrong hands) could cost that insurance company many many thousands or even millions, depending on who he damages (if he does) who he kills (if he does) and actually how many people he does this to if he is at fault and there is more than one person in the other vehicle or vehicles. Personally I would have employed someone older and cheaper to insure in your situation, also I would feel more secure that my van would stay in one piece!

I agree with you there! and the high insurance costs should (in my dreams) keep kids who are idiot drivers off our roads. Sadly, extortionate insurance costs do not deter them, they just drive uninsured. All drivers are at risk from uninsured drivers, they are as much of a menace as drunken drivers, even worse when you get an uninsured, drunken driver.
  • That will stop when i come into power and bring back hanging for this offence.

Currently they get banned and a couple of hundred £ fine, And carry on as before.

I agree and they should hang drunk drivers who injure and kill.

It isn't just MSE members who have bad experiences with them (but you will find plenty if you do a search here!)

Have a search across the net and you will see there is a reason why they are cheap!

    eg: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews11389.html

If I took notice of the Review Centre I wouldn't be buying any car insurance at all. I would need to sell my car because all insurance companies are incompetent!

I would take anyone using their mobile phone, or smoking whilst driving and shoot them in front of their family

On second thoughts let's extend that to all drivers who are at fault for death or injury?

All accidents are a result of someone's negligence so no problem finding someone to [STRIKE]shoot[/STRIKE] blame .

    No stereotyping there then.

I could also hit a car worth £50K, but I pay £350 per year for my insurance.

I dont think that was what Rob meant - just that there is no wonder that people drive without insurance! who can afford £3K? we cant!!
