oh PS, my brother got sucked into working for one of the largest estate agency chains as a mortgage adviser, talk about carrot dangling, plus they draw out the cemap qualification to ensure staff do not leave for at least 2yrs.

    disgusting.
I am an independent Mortgage Adviser And a Compliance Director:eek:
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. • You will find that no Company will employ you with just the CeMap 1,2,3.

The minimum is CeMap one PLUS one year's experience of selling mortgages!

I don't think this would be the case with a bank force
  • Maximum of TWO appointments per day - I did mention this before.

This would mean a target of 3 mortgages plus associated sales per week.

How are they preying on the financially weak? If they are charging one fee for life then they will end up charging the customer a lot less than a high street bank, not more.

    only 2 a day?

in bank you could see 5 a day - you won't get that many given the leads you mention
  • regularsaver I shall wait and see what happens once I have my CeMap!

I will start to apply before I take my CeMap 1 exam then I am all set and ready!
  • A lot of the online information actually says to do 2 & 3 before 1 !!

However, it just happens to be the way the Course dates fall.

I have already done some of the CeMap 1 with an online course to get the basics, so I should be alright.

    Thanks for your input

Have you got the training material anyhow and CD rom's? If you know someone who has ask to borrow them before attending course

  • I think I still have the CD for CeMAP 1 & 2. But it will be old from 2005. But could still be useful. I also bought the mock test papers. They were good but nothing like the real questions on the exam and the same goes for the CD.
  • I have a recent copy - but I think they changed the Cemap 1 paper more recently with the pension changes

I agree with another poster about compliance - I also work in Risk now - its all change
  • Well any company that takes on just new blood and which wants you to work from home is a no go area. How can you learn about mortgages working from home?

Best bet is large estate agencies, local brokers and IFA's with shop fronts or banks.

Try directly at all high street lenders. Barclays are hiring so are A&L and some of the smaller building societies.
  • So no direct training with them about the mandatory FSA sales process? No monthly observations?
