Barclay Card

I have had a Barclay Card since 1990 but cancelled the PPI about 5 years ago not knowing what it was. Can I still claim the PPI back?.

If you have reasons for mis sell.then yes.

Look here for reasons for mis sell.

Just to let you know,if they uphold your complaint, they only go back 6 years without proof of ppi paid previous to this.
If you have statements from then, send copies in with your complaint.
  • Hi

I've tried claiming PPI back from BCard but got rejected. I have had the card since 2002 and in Jan 09 I cancelled the PPI which, I was more than likely mis-sold, but it was quite a long time ago now. I was only 23 and a bit foolish with money! The policy I had was called 'Payment Protection Plan' on my statements, then in Sept 08 it appears on my statements as 'Optional Payment Protection'. In February 09 I called to try and cancel the payments as my financial situation was pretty bad and I saw this as some way of relieving the situation a bit but the lady I spoke to persuaded me to just change it rather than cancel from what I remember. The payment then appears on the following statements as 'Plan B Payment Protection' until I called again and made them cancel it completely a few months later.

Does anyone have any advice or experienced something similar. I would like to claim again but I'm not sure if I've got a case.

    Cheers, Kerry
  • Sorry, I meant I cancelled the payment completely in April/May 09, not January 09

If you have any statements to show ppi then send copies of these too.
Put as a reason the fact you wanted to cancel and was advised to change it.
    Good luck.

    Hello again.
Because I cancelled my PPI about 5 years ago I dont have any statements. If they do uphold the complaint because I cancelled within 6 years would the pay back the PPI from when I opened the account?

    Thanks you.

on my claim with Barclaycard what they did was pay back everything that they had record for and then used the average of these payments for the previous months and years where the records were no longer available.

    hope this helps
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

I would ring and ask if they have received it,4 weeks is a bit long, you may need to send it again.
