I am thinking of booking a holiday to the Canary islands next Christmas (flying out the 27th).
Does anyone have any recommendations? Which Island or where to stay?
ETA - there will be 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 children aged 11,8,5 and 4

Hi
I would suggest Tenerife and look at PDLA. Plenty of hotels ect to suit all, Plenty for both adults and children with attractions and warmer than the UK0 -
we stayed tenerife a few years ago for christmas, stayed costa adeje, walking distance to pdla but not as noisey/liveley but a large shopping centre there. plenty of attractions including loro park.mount teide.
lanzarote we stayed in pdc but i think playa blanca will be a shade warmer. spent a full day drip visiting volcano + camel rides. there also rancho texas.
gran canaria we stayed at playa del ingles bit of a hike down to the beach but had a great time there, puerto rico we went there for the day and seemed family orientated, trips out we did included palmitos park. wild west town.
wherever you choose have a great time0 -
How long for, s/c or otherwise?
Do you want lively or quiet?0 -
..........and remember "lively" at Christmas or out of season is absolutely not the same as the interpretation of "lively" in July and August.
Unless you are seeking solitude and seclusion, I would have no worries that anywhere in the Canary Islands would be "too lively" out of the main season so no worries on that score!0 -
i stopped in lanzarote for 5 weeks over xmas and the weather was a bit hit and miss tbh, xmas day was excellent but the week before we had storms.
ive been to fuerteventura twice in nov/early dec and never had a day of rain or cloud and its been bikini weather so hope that helps.***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -

I found this one http://tidd.ly/20459d09 in fuerteventura based on the weather, it seems available for XMAS and sleeps 7 for £395 and has Balcony, Garden, Outdoor pool, Terrace. + flights0

If we went SC would there be many places to eat open over Christmas?
We would prefer lively, but not 18-30's livelyPay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -
Hi
I cannot say for the other islands but Tenerife will be open for all that you would want, plenty of places to eat, bars and club {should you want them} all the attractions. There will be a good mix of ages as well as holiday makers from the UK, Spain, Germany ect. You could choose from clubbing the night away to eating in a nice relaxing place with just a bit of background music. You can spend the days on the beach sunbathing and be out in the evenings with just a light jacket or cardigan eating under the stars. Food in town can be as cheap or dear as you want it to be and in some places the local beer is as cheap as 1 Euro a pint.New years eve in Playa has wonderful fireworks to see the next year in. All in all you can have a great time and return home with a tan that will be the envy of all your family and friends :0)0
