Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Mrs Tree, we had a 'period of consultation' here too, the teachers were dead against becoming an academy, the governors nodded a lot, pretended to listen but actually just went ahead with it.
Very busy at work, I have 1650 booklets to produce & all the leaflets & posters parents evening on Monday.
Time for another cuppa & a bowl of porridge I think.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning!
I’ve been AWOL a few days… just been busy here. Monday I did the school run (2.5 miles) and Eliza got weighed (lost 9oz so well within the 10% allowed). Tuesday DH and I managed the monthly shop at MrT and MrS and the school run, which was tiring but I did it, DH made dinner and it’s nice to get back to home cooked food.
Yesterday was easier with 2 school runs, and a visitor. DH cooked again and the Midwife weighed Eliza again and her weight is steady now
So today DH is back to work, I only have 1 school run and Eliza gets her heal !!!!! test. I am going to ease myself into things with putting bread on, and putting washing on and folding more baby clothes (trying to wash all her ‘gifts’).
I am feeling really good, the difference between how sick I was and now is so amazing that the tiredness isn’t a factor. Plus Eliza sleeps well and wakes only once or twice for a feed, but it means I get 6 hours a night… and for me its better broken then 6 hours of sleeping light (which is what I did when pregnant) that’s much harder to cope with.
I am generally just taking things in my stride… because if it doesn’t get done its okay as long as Eliza gets fed everything else can wait… because the dust is building… and I don’t care
Sunflower ref. your SIL, try visiting with a HM dish of food and offer to wash up while you’re there. It’s the best way to help. I find people just want to take Eliza for a cuddle and by the time they leave I have to tidy up!!! The first 6 weeks are the hardest with sleep loss, and some woman can feel it’s just them and the baby and forget the outside world… which can be overwhelming. Just make yourself useful, and then you can see how she is really coping too.We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Great to hear you're doing so well JG. Eliza sounds like she has a brilliant Mum xxxx Well done you.
Today will be concentrating on the kitchen and dining room and ensuring the washing is up to date. Things have really slipped here over the last few weeks, so I'm pleased to be getting back to normal. Have found my ironing and mending pilesand will be attacking them this evening. Have the radiator cover to put up today as well, its all painted (as is my kitchen floor - but hopefully it will come off with a scrub!).
Tea tonight will be something from the cupboard - think I need to have a sort through of that! Hugs to all :grouphug:Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all,
Cold and windy here today. I was in bed for 9.15 last night and slept right through, feel slightly like I might be coming down with something so trying to beat it off.
Work today, then home to do more washing etc, sainsbugs delivery tonight, and something with chips for dinner (I will only have a few).
Monogran, we dont live far from wittering and often take the dogs to the beach in winter.
Lou, you must come and post, its a bit like reporting in, we need to know you are ok xx
Lame W how are you ??
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Wet and windy but still quite mild here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was beef stew, dumplings, mash, carrots, brussels, broccolli and green beans - was yummy. Not sure what we're having tonight ..... Popped to SM yesterday as needed more meat for pack-ups, and ink cartridges for the printer.
Managed to get my desk sorted yesterday so now can see the screen properly! Got lots of old papers shredder, put new cartridges into printer - amended some rally information and printed out some info sheets and booking forms - so am ready when people ask. Seemed to be busy all day but not sure that I made that much headway
Friend came for coffee, had a nice chat but she wasn't really herself, I tried to get her to tell me what's wrong but she insisted there wasn't anything - she had just told her son off and he had been really nasty and rude to her (from what she did tell me). He's an only child and she didn't really want him (long story!). He was quite rude to her when he was at mine and I did say to him that he shouldn't speak to his mum like that. Don't really get involved but will just try to be a shoulder for her when she needs me.
Today I will be continuing with the washing, drying and ironing, basket will be empty once I put next load in - will then get everything dry and ironed. I will be doing some cooking/baking at some point as have defrosted some pastry so need to use it up may make some mince pies, also have some apples that need using up so apple crumble for dessert for tonight's dinner and will also make a banana loaf. Need to write a menu plan and shopping list too - I will be food shopping tomorrow.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

awwwww jg sounds like you two are doing really well :j
We had dinner late last night (about 9) and I had a mince pie earlier in the evening so this morning I'm very bloated and uncomfortable. My body just can't handle sugar
I'm mostly revising today but have a few jobs to do: load of washing, make carrot cake bread pudding and vacuum. If I have time I'll make some vitamin c serum as the ingredients came yesterday- OH says the police will be watching me for buying glycerol on the internet :rotfl:Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Good Morning All
Horrible nasty weather here today, was going to pop into town, treat myself to a coffee and get a few bits for the pets which are needed but took a look at the weather and changed my mind
So plans now are - do loads of housework and tidying so can properly treat myself to a guilt free coffee tomorrowHouse is not too bad but I want to start deep cleaning and decluttering a little bit each day. Think today will concentrate on the getting the washing and ironing up to date, not really much there so wont take too long, also going to give the bathrooms a good clean.
Really need to get a chicken out of the freezer in the garage for dinner tonight but its so wet out there - will definitely get it in a mo and will be having roast chicken with roasted vegetables.
Not much else going on here, just trundling and getting though January - such a horrible month. Get well wishes to anyone under the weather and (((hugs)))) wherever needed.x0 -

Morning :hello:
Miffy, how's your mum?
My sewing machine has become a permanant fixture on the kitchen tableWhile it was out, I decided to alter the length of a pair of curtains. Then another pair. The people over the back have decided to set their outside light to come on at 5.45am every morning, so I'm about to sew blackout lining into our bedroom curtains. I have a couple of men's shirts that are still in decent condition so I'm going to try to alter them to fit me. I also have some old curtains, they're beige and completely plain so I could make a skirt and dye it black.
I almost have a job
Not much going on today. I'm going to tidy up a bit, make a phone call I really don't want to make, then sit and fiddle with material for the rest of the day.Bulletproof0
