Smcaul, I have to disagree with you. The police should be involved. The people may deny it but if they don't even get questioned about it, they'll have nothing to discourage them from doing it again. Plus, if they're into identity fraud they're likely to be into other scams & illegal activity. Also, if the police do decide to investigate properly, they can prove all sorts from the claim form - there's a reason why so many financial application forms have a laminate feel to them!

I agree that the Police should be involved, just that I am pretty sure that they won't get involved. If it was me I would just tell the loan Co and let them pursue the matter, as I said earlier the ex home owner cannot be 100% it is the new owner that has tried to gain the loan, just depends on how much effort you want to put into chasing your own tail!!!

Does she know for definite it was the new owners? They may have just dumped the post and someone else is trying on, unless they put their name on it it could have been anyone - can't see the Police taking much interest, just let the loan Co. know - and to be fair it is the Loan Co's fault for sending out these almost fully completed forms in the first place.

mmm I suppose they could have. Apparently it was for a credit card and they signed it using her middle name, then christian name. She's going to contact the credit card people today and see what they recommend, but as you say the application form is practically half completed already, I have the same sort of ones through my door and I just shred them. Hope she srts something out she's also going to contact credit agencies today and see if there's anything else there. Thanks to everybody for your replies. Have a nice day
