Asus RT-N56U - cable modem or will work with ADSL?

I've an ADSL connection - no cable available in our area.

Looking for a "N" router & this one has been recommended. Reviews seem positive.

Had a look on eBuyer & it's listed under "router - cable" & not "router - ADSL".

Will it not work with my ADSL connection then? Or will it?

No, it would need a separate ADSL modem.
You need an ADSL modem/router (both in one unit).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Is there a wireless ADSL router you can recommend? The next one I was recommended was an E4200, which I would get if it's the best thing under £100 but ideally I want something tall like the Asus - that takes up less floor space as this would be more suitable for where it's going to be located

Don't you just love the internet.

A chap on neowin reckons he's using this with his ADSL.

    Both parties can't be right.

I've sent an email off to ebuyer for clarification. I would've emailed ASUS but their contact seems to be only for people who've bought a product, not for people who are enquiring.

Of course this wireless router can be used with ADSL provided that it is connected to either an ADSL modem or an ADSL router via Ethernet.

    Ah damnit.

I want to use it in place of the current DG834PN.

As it's not going to fit the bill, do you have such a replacement in mind?
