paypal query

I've just bought a couple of things from different sellers on ebay.. and it was only when I paid for the second thing that i noticed that the first one was still showing as uncleared almost a week after the purchase! The money did leave my account immediately tho, it's showing on paypal as an e-cheque?????

I know now it's because my last bank card had expired and I never got round to updating it because I hardly ever use paypal. I feel soo bad for the sellers cos they must think I'm some kind of scammer or idiot or something.

Is there anything I can do? I've updated my card now but i think it's too late isn't it?

IF the seller is happy to wait, no harm done. Possibly an email saying you're sorry you didn't realise it had gone through as an echeque and you hope they haven't been too inconvenienced by the delay.

    Another question please guys..

Since my paypal balls up, I've added another debit card to the account cos of the other one being expired. however, this new one is not for the same bank account as the other one, which is the one thats been verified etc by paypal. does that matter or will payments just be taken off the new card, which is what i want?

    Thanks

  • Should be fine. They don't care where the money comes from... it's your address that's confirmed - sellers don't care about your bank account.

Presumably you don't have a credit card? You're more secure using a CC with paypal than a debit card (in the hopefully unlikely event of a transaction gone boobs-up)

  • I dont have any credit cards, lol

it did a weird thing.. it took some money from 'paypal funds' - not sure where they came from.. and the rest direct from my bank account, using the debit card as a back up source?

says it went thru as an instant transaction tho so I dunno

  • That implies your pp account was in credit for some reason... and it topped up the rest with your debit card.

PP will always use your balance before taking money from your cards or bank account.

  • how would it get in credit? I've never sold anything yet.. or even tried to?

    it's weird, lol

I too have a problem. I bought some stuff and I am getting the uncleared message. It says it will be cleared on the 14th March. I haven't changed my account and one went through straight away in January. Any ideas?
