if you hadn't paid in £750 for each of the last three months(ie since Oct) you would have to do it for the next three months so couldn't even apply until mid April.
Pls post a link which confirms this.
But say you had & if you already had a nationwide credit card you could get the new card but without the 0% on purchases for 18 months (which is the main attraction don't you think?).
It depends on who you're asking. For me the commission-free usage abroad is the main attraction.
There are plenty of cards doing MUCH better cashback deals (capital one 5%)
Yes, if cash back is what one is after. One card cannot do everything great, and banks are out there to be profitable remember. If you're looking for a card offering 0% on purchases/BTs for 18 months, 5% cash back, commission-free foreign spends and cash withdrawals available to new and existing customers, then you're never coming back from la-la land.
NB.You don't get the measly .5% cashback on spending abroad either.
Again, a link to this info will be helpful.

The devil is in the detail (which you have missed,as well as the point)>if you hadn't paid in £750 for each of the last three months(ie since Oct) you would have to do it for the next three months so couldn't even apply until mid April. But say you had & if you already had a nationwide credit card you could get the new card but without the 0% on purchases for 18 months (which is the main attraction don't you think?).There are plenty of cards doing MUCH better cashback deals (capital one 5%)Effectively it is only of use to people who have a main flex account but no nationwide credit card. Not a temper tantrum, just a realisation that I would have been better off trying to get this deal if I had not been a nationwide customer in the first place. So now I wont be next time they come up with a similar deal.NB.You don't get the measly .5% cashback on spending abroad either.

Do many people not pay in £750 to their main current account over the course of a month? If your total annual income is less than £9k a year, would Nationwide really want to provide you with a credit card?

I think the 18 months 0% is an amazing offer yes, but it's not the only attraction and even without that, it's still better than most cards I could get - there is no way I could possibly get the 5% cashback card from Capital One. I would love to have received that offer, but my existing 6 months @ 0% - which gets carried over onto this card - is good enough for me. Seems a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face

I called it a temper tantrum because it appears you were typing a rambling, badly formatted complaint about it - followed by shouting at how recommendations for the card should be withdrawn. Maybe that's just how you write though - in which case sorry. Perhaps now you go looking for somewhere else to bank, you will also come to the realisation that existing customers never get as good a deal as new customers. The whole point of this promotion is to get more people using the Flexaccount as their main bank account - it's not a favour or charity handout. Same applies to every single bank or building society.

That doesn't surprise me (though I wasn't actually told that myself) considering Nationwide make much less - if anything - from foreign transactions.
  • My only issue with the offer is that it doesn't make it clear (at least anywhere I saw) that the 18 months 0% offer is not available to existing Nationwide Credit Card holders.

The conditions for existing customers on the page are
To be eligible to apply, you have to hold a FlexAccount with a Visa debit card (not cash card+) and:
pay in £750 or more each month (excluding internal transfers), or
agree to complete an Account Transfer from an account (non Nationwide) using our Account Transfer Service or have done so in the past 4 months.

I think if they are advertising it that it is available to existing customers, provided they meet the above condition, then they should also be clear if there are any other conditions (e.g. existing holder of a different Nationwide credit card) that exempt you from part of the offer (the 18 months 0%).

  • The intro offer is NOT available to existing NW CC customers. See under 'important information' here:
