  • Thanks a lot for every one who replied and tried to help. I guess I'll just try at JL. I know I have no rights, and it's absolutely up to them to decide whether to return it. I'll make it clear to them that I'm not expecting much. If not, I'll just keep it, and who knows, since my nose keeps changing, might go for it again on a few months :-)
Love saving, but not sure I'm doing it right!

I would be astonished if JL agree to accept it given that there is no evidence whatsoever it was bought there and it wasn't bought by you anyway and you therefore have no right to return it anyway.. Either give it to someone else (preferably someone the person who gave it to you doesn't know to avoid embarassment) or flog it on eBay.

Why JL? Just because they seem to be the easiest target based on what's been said here?

Forget it, if you don't even know where you bought it from, you're basically screwing the retailer that actually allows it over!

OP, I've taken gifts back to the Chanel counter in JL before, they've exchanged it for other Chanel products no problems, but you won't get a refund of any sort.

I haven't had it for a long time, and it smells absolutely fine. I guess my taste must have changed!
    So you've used it?

But did you have a receipt/proof of purchase?

I don't know where she bought it, and I can't ask.
Why, embarrassed to? Pluck up the courage and explain and ask her where she got it and would she mind if you swapped it. It's got to be less embarrassing than trying it on in a shop!

No, they were gifts. The girls really don't mind as it's sealed and you change it for the same brand.

OP was referring to another bottle she has that she has used and this is how she knows she doesnt like it any longer.

OP......although I dont condone the whole "try your luck" approach, if you tell them (like you said in an earlier post) that you're not sure where it was bought from, you'll increase your chances of them not swapping/exchanging it.

While i'm sure you dont want to upset her in any way, it really is the best idea to ask where she bought it and either if you can have the receipt or if she would mind changing it for you (if she doesnt want you to know how much it was etc). And even then time is running short as I think most companies were only giving till around end of Jan to exchange unwanted gifts.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Also saves the embarrasment of getting yet another bottle next year as well.
