Getting shot of landline, good idea?

Am thinking of getting rid of my bt landline and O2 broadband and instead just getting Virgin fibre optic broadband. I dont use the landline really for calls just for the broadband. (I can use my mobile).
If I get rid of my landline will it affect my credit rating as I have heard that having a fixed landline is considerd more credit worthy?
Any ideas? Many thanks

An urban myth.
Bear in mind that VM telephony is about the most expensive around, and the charges are otherwise set so that the saving to not take the phone service is minimal.
And once you are on a VM cable service without a BT-based landline installed, it's Hotel California time.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Not an Urban Myth it might do, see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2305699
Work around get a free geographical number from www.sipgate.co.uk divert it to voicemail. Messages will be then be emailed to you.
Virgin Media Broadband is from £21 a month after first 3 months. You can get a landline and broadband for less with a different supplier.0 -
VM is only Fibre Optic to the Mux/DA,which can be upto 1/2 mile away, from their it's copper to the street cabinet & then the house, but the signal is boosted in the main cabs.0

You will find that VM deals are cheaper with the VM landline. We have a VM landline set up and never have used it, just because its cheaper to have it. The only time the phone becomes useful is when phoning VM themselves (which is free on VM line).:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I was told it would cost me £10 pm more if I chose not to have the phone. As a result of having it, it costs me less. Maybe things have changed over time, if so it about time. Not according to VM

Landlines will soon be non-existent, due to the younger generation being brought up with mobile phones. The internet's also too powerful for landlines, its so easy to video call somebody anywhere in the world for free!
The companies offer free landline deals as their desperate, give it 5/10 years nobody will have 'em!0 -
