Advice wanted on BT Home Hub router

A friend of mine who is having problems with her BT Broadband has been told by BT Customer Services that the centre light on the router (BROADBAND) turns orange when her PC is idle or off.
That's not the case on my Netgear router. Are they giving her good info?

I've got a BT HH 3 and the broadband light stays solid blue regardless. There's a page somewhere on the BT website that tells you what the lights mean depending on which HH you have.

My BT home hub has 3 blue light irrespective of whether some/all/none of the home computers are on. Orange means something bad has happened, usually temporarily.0
