Adive wanted on latest BT Home Hub router

An elderly friend of mine is having difficulty with her BT broadband. She has been on to customer services and one thing they said to doesn't sound right to me.
She has the latest Home Hub router which has three lights on the front. She has occasionally noticed that the centre light, with the word BROADBAND under it is appearing orange rather than blue. BT Customer services have told her that this happens when her computer is idle or off. That is certainly not correct on my own NETGEAR router but I would appreciate it if someone was able to confirm if this is good info or not.
